Every one of these is a classic! Vivid memories of junior high dances. Had to vote Secret by a narrow margin over Another Night and Fantastic Voyage.

Janet Jackson – "Runaway"
Real McCoy – "Run Away"

Wonder why these freshman/sophomore year listen-lessons never took.

"Fantastic Voyage"--my year-end #1 that year, still love it. Method Man and Janet Jackson are good too. Used to think Me'shell Ndegeocello was a complete drag.

Meth & Mary is all-time for me.

What is wrong with songs? Absolutely nothing. Songs are great. (DL), Saturday, 29 March 2014 15:31 (eleven years ago)

lotta good tracks on here, takes me back to my teens. I voted Prince tho.

the Madonna song is very slight and was greatly overshadowed by "Take a Bow".

like the Real McCoy tunes.

I liked Mariah Carey's "Without You", but her melisma towards the end starts to grate on me. not that it's inappropriate, she had to make the song her own, but the thing I loved about Nilsson's version was how the simplicity of his melody allowed his anguish to shine through.

another night > i'll be there for you/you're all i need to get by > boombastic > runaway (not run away)

i would never have guessed that "run away" reached the same peak as "another night"
