i think the real criticism is that it's a bit mean spirited but the writing is pretty funny "she bought all her instagram followers. who even goes out on mondays?"

i don't think this one is really half-assed. it's just a bit... branded

well yeah the mean spirited part is the depiction of "what are people who take selfies like". the writing doesn't really elevate the premise much, though, if this originated on a sketch show people would be like 'eh i kept waiting for the really funny part and it never got there.'

"Valley Girl" sometimes credited/blamed with popularizing overuse of the word "like"

when this act is done -- in, say, 15 minutes from now -- a better act should resuscitate the outstanding name "the chain-smokers."

These type of things are fleeting, though.

I wouldn't read too much into it and just enjoy it for the five minutes it'll last.

Maybe short-lived would be a better word.

It's amazing that Dim Mak used to put out EPs by the Gossip and now basically have a novelty song with the undertone of "women are inhuman monsters"
