To the UK Top 40 singles, my good fellow, and be swift about it! - Pop-Eye's ILM exile continues. Why oh why do people like Nelly?

i like the new nelly single. country grammar passed me by, but the new one is great. i like the sort of sing-song type delivery. and its got great drums.

its funny how people like jurassic 5 wanted a return to 80s style party hip hop, but were kind of retro, whereas nelly seems to have managed it, but without the retroisms

The charts are boring. I'm sure this would have been my week if we were still doing Pop-Eye properly.

The Nelly single's fantastic. It's simple, catchy rap with lyrics about not a lot. City Spud's verse is brilliant, the line about getting pages about a party in NYC is great, the drums and beatboxing are perfect. I said when I first heard it that if it was released just as summer came along it'd be a big hit. The Stargate remix is pretty good too, using the City Spud verse first.

The Eve new entry is surprisingly high, but deserved. It's good to see real music in the form of Badly Drawn Boy back where it belongs in the charts. That is, a mediocre mid-chart position despite loads of hype and an expensive video.

"Who's That Girl" is the definite highlight. In terms of singles, it and "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" probably form the best one-two-punch of the year. Well, at least until we find out what Missy's next single is.

"Play" is also annoyingly likable, but I'm hardly going to forgive J Lo just because sometimes she isn't awful.

Don't want to dwell on the controversial aspects of the Geri discussion last week, but I have to say I'm dumbfounded that "It's Raining Men" is still at number one. Surely the Bridget Jones movie isn't that big over in England? Or do people just like the video for the same unfathomable reason that they liked Paula Abdul videos?

Oh, and I agree 100% with Tim that it's really nice to see "Who's that Girl" chart so high. Eve is on such a roll right now, I'd never have thought someone could make Gwen Stefani sound so pleasant (take note, Moby). If I were the type of person to make up lists, Scorpion would be right up near the top of my best of 2001 so far.

What I've heard from _Scorpion_ left me...well, bemused. Didn't hate it, but I can't say I was taken by it either. Time will tell.

Count me in as a Nelly fan, though. Them's a good song he's got there.

I bought Scorpion and Eve's delivery, which sounds hard on one or two songs at a time simply, by five songs in, sounds like she can't flow.

Yeah, the Nelly single is good, it will be in the charts for a while I think. It's quite a laid back song with a good chorus, and a well produced video...for some reason I think Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff when I hear it...you know summer summer time. Good to see Bon Jovi at number 10, must go and get the live album! Apart from that, it's a very slow week, fortunately for Geri she didn't face too much competition.

I pretty much have to turn the TV off when "Play" comes on. Even hearing "Survivor" for the umpteenth time doesn't begin to grate on my ears like that single does. And do we really need Bon Jovi back in the charts? Sorry james el, but does anybody else like these guys? I'm certainly not going to start a c-o-d, but anyone else, well.. it's your life.
