Had a CD-R of this, so I never realized how weak the album cover was until just now. Love this album, though.

it's between the 1st 2 for me, Deceptacon is so goddamn amazing but Hot Topic is great too

I remember exactly where I was (driving to Portland) when I first heard Deceptacon on the radio

sleeve, Wednesday, 16 April 2014 23:36 (eleven years ago)

in fact I think I'm gonna put this on right now

"My My Metrocard": sums up NYC '99 better than anything

what a great album, so hard to choose. listening to it now i can hear it laying out paths that would be charted by the next 10 years of music.

fuck i feel old

i remember buying this album the week it came out like it was yesterday, scanning through the lyrics sheet for hot topic and judging them for what they mentioned and imagining them judging me. i was too young then to hear the proto-portlandia malaise in that dry litany of names. like when this album came out it was still valid to ask the question "what does this mean for the future of *riot*".

"did you hear that new kathleen hanna thing? me neither but i heard it was like weird."

Voted, still discovering the individuals listed in "Hot Topic"

"got ye!" (flamboyant goon tie included), Thursday, 17 April 2014 08:27 (eleven years ago)

You know, somehow I have never owned this album, but still seem to know all of the songs on this!

Now I really really want to listen to it, to make up my mind, but... still don't own it.

They were still probably the most nicest that anyone has ever been to their support band, in my experience.

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Thursday, 17 April 2014 15:42 (eleven years ago)

you opened for them? did you . . . did you meet Kathleen?

Airwrecka Bliptrap Blapmantis (ENBB), Thursday, 17 April 2014 15:43 (eleven years ago)

Hot Topic no question.

I am going to a fundraising thing tonight at the venue I saw them play in 2000 and was thinking about that show ever. Man, it was amazing.

God I love this album so much.

da croupier, Thursday, 17 April 2014 16:14 (eleven years ago)

Voting bedroom dancing just cuz I know people will vote rightly for decep and hot topic but I wanna make sure I don't see a zero on eau.

da croupier, Thursday, 17 April 2014 16:15 (eleven years ago)

deceptacon was played probably 12 times at each and every college party i went to, i'd be happy never to hear it again

marcos, Thursday, 17 April 2014 16:19 (eleven years ago)

I mostly heard the DFA remix iirc

MikoMcha, Thursday, 17 April 2014 16:20 (eleven years ago)

(Aside to ENBB: actually I was roadie-ing for a band that supported them. Kathleen actually came up to our dressing room before the show with this HUUUGE plate of food and goodies and said "they've given us way more catering than we are ever going to eat - we thought you might want some of it!" and gave us all this food and then wished everybody good luck and she was really, really super-nice. We were all kinda stunned because we were really starstruck.)

Will still never forget them playing in Loring Park with a dozen little kids dancing like crazy up front.

Peter Scholtes, Friday, 18 April 2014 00:22 (eleven years ago)

"Deceptacon" defined early 2000s dancing for me.

Glad I voted Phanta

Just rewatching that Deceptacon video. Wow, that could have come out last week. It's like the perfect slapdash youtube viral music video.
