xxp can't believe somebody found a way to record ocean sounds without recording a rock song on top of it, goddam

brimstead, Saturday, 26 April 2014 01:21 (twelve years ago)

"it's begun again" by stone temple pilots SHOULD have this sound, i'm not positive it does, though.

brimstead, Saturday, 26 April 2014 01:22 (twelve years ago)

i feel like something from the paragons "on the beach" must have this, but that album is so damn beach, you get virtual ocean spray all over your brain

brimstead, Saturday, 26 April 2014 01:51 (twelve years ago)

that shit ain't ocean sounds, it's a work of sound art

j., Saturday, 26 April 2014 01:57 (twelve years ago)

xp i know i know, i guess i'm just expressing general frustration at the state of things. like, ideally all albums should be mixed for surround or whatever.

anvil, Saturday, 26 April 2014 02:20 (twelve years ago)

nice...
are there any live albums recorded on beaches, where you can hear the waves in the background?

brimstead, Saturday, 26 April 2014 02:21 (twelve years ago)

exotic sounds of tiki gardens still seems not to have a discogs page!

anvil, Saturday, 26 April 2014 02:22 (twelve years ago)

There's a track on Tim Buckley (happysad iirc) where they ended up with too much tape noise because of a bad ground or something so they threw ocean sounds behind it to cover up.

The Wondermints' Bali album ends with 10 minutes of soothing electronic wave sounds, then they hit you with a Coors Light jingle. Tap the Rockies!

Black Dice - Endless Happiness

A classic. Big Drop as the next track is so fitting for that album.

That version of The Ocean on VU Live 1969 evokes it so well without a single sound affect added

Dr X O'Skeleton, Sunday, 27 April 2014 22:13 (twelve years ago)

Cornelius's 69/96 album has a lot of this:

Track 15: cute little ukulele song that begins and ends with ocean sounds
Tracks 16 to 68: roughly 5 minutes of continuous ocean sounds (each track is about 5 seconds long)
Track 69: cute little ukulele song that begins with ocean sounds
Tracks 70 to 95: roughly 7 minutes of silence (each track is about 15 seconds long)
Track 96: cute little electro instrumental

tao lin wolf (unregistered), Sunday, 27 April 2014 22:26 (twelve years ago)

oh yeah, the first track (" 69/96 A Space Odyssey ~Prelude (In Atami)") also begins with ocean sounds

Oasis - Champagne Supernova. First thing that came to mind. On the 8-minute album version.

LimbsKing, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 17:42 (twelve years ago)

That sounds more like someone sloshing around in a bathtub, though.

It sounds like an anchor is thrown in the ocean during the sound-effects breakdown of "Yellow Submarine"

LimbsKing, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 17:49 (twelve years ago)

does dennis wilson do this on his solo record?
