I'm much more of a Parliament fan overall but this is my favourite George Clinton related album. Think I'm going for Jimmy's Got a Little Bit of Bitch in Him.

Tough choice between "Red Hot Mama" and "I'll Stay." Of course, if "Vital Juices," the B-side of "Red Hot Mama" was included, that might get my vote—it's basically the second half of the song, three more minutes of insane Eddie Hazel guitar.

Went with the title track.

voted "I'll Stay", which has got that perfect blend of funk and fucked-up-ness in the best Funkadelic tracks. But yeah, this is an underrated album, and probably my fave of their mid-70s period.

As part of the first annual DC Funk Parade festivities near U Street Saturday a bunch of guitar-playing folks were all doing "Maggot Brain" together. Eh, it was ok

"Maggot Brain" was part of the pre-parade fair (various bands were playing outside in parking lots and near metro subway stations). The parade itself did not have that many participants but I enjoyed it-- the awesome Ballou High band and majorettes from SE DC led off and there was that DC based female Brazilian drum percussion team Batala, and a young dancing & acrobatics girls squad, but otherwise anyone was invited to march which meant lotsa bearded 20 somethings and and a few neighborhood oldtimers. Had stuff to do so could not stick around for the later free EU ("da butt") gig. Lotsa local groups were playing gratis from 7 to 10 in some of the U Street area clubs

The video of red hot mama is mind blowing. How is Michael Hampton not more well known.
