Pearl Jam is tied with U2 for the most songs on this chart, with 39. In the early '90s, seems like they charted with every single they put out.

Ha.

Voted Elderly Woman. "Vs" was the first CD I ever bought.

LimbsKing, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 15:02 (eleven years ago)

Corduroy is their best ever song, so

well

Pearl Jam songs that charted without being officially released as A-sides

some dude, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 15:46 (eleven years ago)

Oh man, Evolution only got to #33? I'll give it the love it deserves here.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 16:02 (eleven years ago)

I had forgotten about that one and I think I commented in it.

LimbsKing, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 16:04 (eleven years ago)

never heard of most of these songs, but voting "Tremor Christ" because thought it was cool at the time, and sounds nothing like any other Pearl Jam I know

Dominique, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 16:37 (eleven years ago)

The hell, "Dissident" never charted? I've heard that song like 100 times on the radio, and never heard half of these.

Vinnie, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 18:16 (eleven years ago)

Over here in Europe it was a single, but not in the USA?

Marty8501 (Marty Innerlogic), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 18:17 (eleven years ago)

#3 on Mainstream Rock Tracks, whatever that is. Yeah, I've totally heard that song 100 times too.

how's life, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 18:19 (eleven years ago)

Pearl Jam was one of those 90s bands that just had the shit played out of them on modern rock radio, singles or no. I'm fairly confident that every single song on Vitalogy except "Pry, To", "Bugs", "Satan's Bed", "Aye Davanita" and "Heyfoxylongsongtiltemamasan, That's Me" was in high rotation on our local modern rock station.

Today I am voting I Got Id

Drugs A. Money, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 19:01 (eleven years ago)

That's a great fucking tune for sure, but I'm still holding with "Immortality". For today.

djenter the dragon? (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 19:22 (eleven years ago)

Glorified G (which is great, cheesy lyrics aside) and Dissident were Mainstream Rock hits.

LimbsKing, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:03 (eleven years ago)

surprised Sirens only got to #4 it seems like that song is on the radio non stop. In fact I think it's the first PJ song I've heard on the radio in 15 years

Would vote for Glorified G with no question if it were on this list. Currently fluctuating between Corduroy and In Hiding but who knows. I have a lot of love for Pearl Jam.

Sandy, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 16:12 (eleven years ago)

It's interesting that, except for Daughter, the #1's are hardly their best or most well-known songs.

LimbsKing, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 18:06 (eleven years ago)

Inevitable thread, I assume the U2/RHCP polls are coming next?

Pretty tough! Voted for "Daughter", with these as runners-up: "Go", "Better Man", "Who You Are", "Off He Goes", and "Last Kiss".

Frontier Psychiatrist, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 22:19 (eleven years ago)

Oddly enough a few months back Billboard credited U2 as the sole title holder for most modern rock hits, wifh Pearl Jam's official count only being 38 (I assume that they count the studio and live versions of "Elderly Woman..." as a single chart entry)

Frontier Psychiatrist, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 22:34 (eleven years ago)

I think Billboard was wrong then -- Pearl Jam overtook U2 with 39 tracks after "Sirens" came out. Then U2 tied them a few weeks later with that "Invisible" track/download.

LimbsKing, Thursday, 1 May 2014 00:53 (eleven years ago)

Last Kiss -- #2 on the Hot 100 and the Modern Rock Tracks.

LimbsKing, Sunday, 4 May 2014 13:59 (eleven years ago)

I almost voted Daughter as it was kind of my first PJ song. There are good ten or twelve songs here that U'd like to see win this

Also: pouring one out for Nothingman

Drugs A. Money, Sunday, 4 May 2014 16:47 (eleven years ago)

songs that I adore and never get sick of:
Corduroy, Yellow Ledbetter, Given To Fly, Who You Are, Do The Evolution, In Hiding, Go, Immortality, The Fixer, Spin The Black Circle, Not For You, I Got Id

like them a lot but not necessarily all-time favorites:
Leaving Here, Mind Your Manners, I Am Mine, Light Years, Hail Hail, Wishlist, Crazy Mary, Brother, Gone, Sirens

songs that have been so overplayed for so long they're kind of hard for hear anymore:
Alive, Evenflow, Jeremy, Black, Daughter, Elderly Woman, Better Man

indifferent to:
Tremor Christ, Save You, Worldwide Suicide, Amongst The Waves, Life Wasted

i guess i don't like Pearl Jam ballads:
Nothing As It Seems, Last Kiss, Off He Goes, Just Breathe

some dude, Sunday, 4 May 2014 18:32 (eleven years ago)

Daughter will always be one of their greats for me, even if it did birth Days of the New/Tantric and a bunch of awful alt-roots offshoots

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 5 May 2014 03:56 (eleven years ago)

Fun fact: when Hootie's Hold my Hand first came out, I used to get it confused with Yellow Ledbetter all the time

Drugs A. Money, Monday, 5 May 2014 03:57 (eleven years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Jack Irons era was the shit imo

some dude, Tuesday, 6 May 2014 00:36 (eleven years ago)

Woulda been a better first single than "Who You Are"

LimbsKing, Tuesday, 6 May 2014 01:06 (eleven years ago)

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

#26 – Yellow Ledbetter (7/9/94) 0
#1 – Daughter (1/8/94) 0
#5 – Jeremy (9/5/92) 0

lol, damn

smhphony orchestra (crüt), Wednesday, 7 May 2014 00:58 (eleven years ago)

Missed this poll. Would have voted Yellow Ledbetter.

naus, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 04:03 (eleven years ago)

Missed this poll. Would have dithered endlessly and forgotten to vote. Kind of an "only on ILM" result string I think - bunch of kinda big-deal songs down there in the 0's. I am one of only four people who likes "Nothing As It Seems" at all, but "Jeremy" is great, overplay and self-seriousness or no, and come on, "Better Man" is fucking killer. "Given To Fly" sounds way better to me now than it did in 1998. Hell, on the right day I'd've voted for "The Fixer," which needs more ideas but has such a killer, dead-simple chorus, sounds great.

Doctor Casino, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 04:39 (eleven years ago)

Could have sworn I voted for "Daughter", must have clicked something else by mistake. Surprised to see so many big PJ hits end up getting no votes in this poll.

Frontier Psychiatrist, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 05:06 (eleven years ago)

I think Nothing as it Seems is great

Binaural has improved with age. I almost never return to Riot Act, Self-Titled, or Backspacer.

LimbsKing, Wednesday, 7 May 2014 14:15 (eleven years ago)

yeah i agree, Binaural's best moments are the best of the Cameron era. in fact, i just remembered i did playlists for each of the 4 drummer eras of the band a while back: http://narrowcast.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-imaginary-pearl-jam-box-set-4.html
