dont be silly nobody gave a shit about Bush in the UK

۩, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:34 (twelve years ago)

I know they didn't ;) They sold a truckload of albums in America, though. Incredibly.

bush were the foghat of grunge. huge in the u.s. dismissed in their homeland.

scott seward, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:43 (twelve years ago)

I read somewhere that the most any of their albums sold in the UK was 2500 copies.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:45 (twelve years ago)

as many as that? The magazines here did not cover them. They were only mentioned as a punchbag really in Kerrang. Hes a minor celeb now though due to his marriage. So if Bush ever made a US comeback they might "crack" here finally.

You used to get a lot of people who ignored music in the UK unless they got big in America (casey kasem's show to blame?) and even they ignored Bush.

۩, Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:50 (twelve years ago)

Turrican was casey kasem's american chart countdown still on when you were young?

Razorblade Suitcase made #4 in the UK album chart on the back of 'Swallowed', which is about as big as Bush ever got here.

Toni Braxton-Hicks (Turrican), Tuesday, 29 April 2014 20:56 (twelve years ago)

The album's working title was Ghost Medicine, but was changed for unknown reasons. The title is a line from the lyrics of the song "Synapse" and is lead singer Gavin Rossdale's interpretation of 'emotional baggage'. The album artwork was done by Vaughan Oliver and Adrian Philpott. Oliver had also done the artwork for Surfer Rosa.[1] Gavin Rossdale made statements around the time of the release that he only hoped that Bush would be one day as successful as the Pixies were in England.

Yeah, I had tears in at least three of my eyes laughing at reading that.
