Acclaimed Music Top 25 Albums from 1960 poll

this is way before my time, so really i don't know.

as you can see i'm counting up, unlike the 70's decade. that was because 1979 was already done.

I'll jump on when My Favorite Things comes up next year. I have five or six of these, but none of them have any special significance for me. (Going to guess that the first pop album I vote for will be the Ronettes in '64.)

Yeah, will likely choose Mingus at Antibes narrowly over Ornette, even though it wasn't actually released until 1976.

I was tempted to vote for Soul Station but went with Sketches of Spain ... lots of good stuff on this list

Not my first jazz album, but the first to really pull me in & make me listen.

going to listen to Giant Steps for the first time in my life. i have heard the other one, and it's one of my all time favorites.

Blues and Roots is a great Mingus album

Ornette and Dolphy in this period is what got me into jazz. Change of the Century over Out There

I won't pretend it's the best thing on this list, but Eric Dolphy needs some love. Of the two here I slightly prefer Outward Bound.

Were pop/rock albums not yet a thing in 1960, or were they just not very good or popular yet? I see only two pop albums here; a decade later rock would dominate and there's no jazz at all save for one Miles disc (and even that one incorporated rock leanings).

"Blues & Roots" is actually my favourite Mingus album, but it's hard not to vote for Ella... Loads of other great records there too, but those two are my favourites.

Can't argue with the results, even though I was one of the two Antibes voters. What an insane year.

Missed this poll completely but I would've voted for the winner anyway - probably my favourite Coltrane album. Sketches of Spain would be second place, most of the others I haven't heard.
