there is a CD review for Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty band at my radio station, it says "I would rather listen to the final death rattle of my only child than play this CD again."

i like when there are 3 day music festivals in my town and i make 0% money at my used record store from concertgoers. who knows? this could be my year.

scott seward, Friday, 23 May 2014 18:13 (eleven years ago)

i will say that 'people with instruments' describes this music pretty well

i am hoping that "yarn fungus amungus" is one band name but I fear otherwise?

Also, no hannah's field no credibility.

Khamma chameleon (Jon Lewis), Friday, 23 May 2014 18:36 (eleven years ago)

and i'll take any opportunity to post this video, seems to fit with this thread:

wow a jiggle reunion, never thought i'd see it

That Primate Fiasco song is not bad at all tbh. And Outer Style could easily be rebranded as "out/psych" and thrown on a bill in some bushwick basement.

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:08 (eleven years ago)

So many of these bands (not the two I just mentioned) have that specific "funk" groove, that like didn't come from any actual funk song ever but from some negative platonic ideal of Funk.

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:09 (eleven years ago)

Primate Fiasco are very popular around here. they seem a little more with it than most.

scott seward, Friday, 23 May 2014 19:13 (eleven years ago)

If you didn't tell me that was a jam band I would not peg it as jam band.

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:15 (eleven years ago)

tuba and electric banjo actually a pretty good combo.

scott seward, Friday, 23 May 2014 19:16 (eleven years ago)

i am loling in a room by myself while reading this list of band names

yarn fungus amungus and unexplained bacon are my favorites
i desperately want one of them to be really really good

funch dressing (La Lechera), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:16 (eleven years ago)

negative platonic ideal of funk

Phish.

how's life, Friday, 23 May 2014 19:17 (eleven years ago)

no wait
people with instruments is the best

funch dressing (La Lechera), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:18 (eleven years ago)

p sure Yarn and Fungus Amungus are two different bands, sorry to ruin your day guys

djenter the dragon? (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:18 (eleven years ago)

people with instruments is the name that sounds most like a joke

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:19 (eleven years ago)

u know when one of them suggested that name they all went silent for like 3 seconds and then the suggester was like "right? right?" and it was just *minds blown*

Khamma chameleon (Jon Lewis), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:22 (eleven years ago)

a philly paper once described my former band as "The Dead without the jam"

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:28 (eleven years ago)

I will actually rep for Donna The Buffalo, or at least the one show I saw 15 years ago. They're better than the name.

THE Kind Buds

I'm imagining inter-band squabbling over who claimed "Kind Buds" first. Guessing these dudes probably went to Ohio State.

djenter the dragon? (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:45 (eleven years ago)

yeah that is definitely two bands. yarn and fungus amungus. formatting was screwed up.

scott seward, Friday, 23 May 2014 19:53 (eleven years ago)

yarn fungus is a good band name

funch dressing (La Lechera), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:54 (eleven years ago)

Oh shit kind buds is on this bill! No joke, once when I was visiting NH, Kind Buds was listed on the upcoming shows chalkboard in this brew pub, along with Your Mother's Onion and Skynkz.

Khamma chameleon (Jon Lewis), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:55 (eleven years ago)

Why do half these kinds of bands always have to have food in their names?

Khamma chameleon (Jon Lewis), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:56 (eleven years ago)

Nm I am being faux naive I know why

Khamma chameleon (Jon Lewis), Friday, 23 May 2014 19:57 (eleven years ago)

feel like there has not been sufficient appreciation of THE FUNKY DAWGZ itt

I think the animal-themed names might actually be worse than the food-themed ones

endzone selfie (bernard snowy), Friday, 23 May 2014 21:50 (eleven years ago)

resin ed the one man jam band might be my new counter-cultural hero.

scott seward, Friday, 23 May 2014 21:50 (eleven years ago)

Drugs Leonard

Khamma chameleon (Jon Lewis), Friday, 23 May 2014 21:53 (eleven years ago)

wow everytime I think I've hit the bottom of the barrel, I manage to scrape some previously unnoticed 'Lovewhip' out of a corner

endzone selfie (bernard snowy), Friday, 23 May 2014 21:54 (eleven years ago)

i like the name Lux Deluxe because it's extra fancy.

scott seward, Friday, 23 May 2014 21:56 (eleven years ago)

LOVEWHIP and HOT DAY AT THE ZOO are the only two names that make me physically ill to contemplate, though I'm not about to let the others off the hook that easily

endzone selfie (bernard snowy), Friday, 23 May 2014 21:58 (eleven years ago)

"Thank you folks, we are........ *voice drops to a hushed, reverent whisper* sssSEEEEEEeeed"

endzone selfie (bernard snowy), Friday, 23 May 2014 22:01 (eleven years ago)

I better drop another tab. This music is really starting to sound like shite.

I know people who are legitimately upset that they are not going to this event.

Also, Roots of Creation and Hot Day At the Zoo, two bands who I have unironically enjoyed at some point in my life.
