Grey is my favorite color and I think it looks good on everyone (except v light shades). What is the story of all this self-consciousness? I do not understand. Browns, too...all I wear is grey & brown, for the most part.

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 19:55 (sixteen years ago) link

Well, I'm pale and my hair is sort of blah light brown, not that much different from my skin (eyelashes and eyebrows are blonde and invisible). I'd wear that dress but I would need something really colorful around my neck, a scarf or jewelry. And prob a bright lipstick.

Laurel, Thursday, 14 August 2008 19:57 (sixteen years ago) link

But accessorizing is about 80% of the fun of getting dressed, so that's perfect!

Laurel, Thursday, 14 August 2008 19:58 (sixteen years ago) link

The only color I can't really wear is RED bcz it highlights my enviable acne.

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 19:58 (sixteen years ago) link

love grey and i am pale! but i have darker hair.

i like this sweet pea dress, but it is only avail in S.

hey, is that Saleisha?

I wear a lot of black with blue, yellow.. never could get into brown. I think putting on brown makes me a granola hippie or something. Plus with the red hair I'd become an apple tree!

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:00 (sixteen years ago) link

hmm...looks like her, but i'd need to see a zoom on the face for definitive yes.

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:01 (sixteen years ago) link

Abbots, if you highlighted yr acne all the girls would want some, I guarantee it. So you better stay away from red indeed, or you'll be mobbed!

(PS I am v self-conscious abt my skin too but I'm trying a new phase of "no one notices as much as I do" and going out anyway. So far no complaints. Most people aren't really very observant, on the whole.)

Laurel, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Having hair that is dyed fun colors does throw a kink into outfit coordination.

I <3 yr hairs btw. xxp

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:02 (sixteen years ago) link

i thought it was saleisha but I wasnt sure! here are some shots that look more like her:

sunny successor, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:08 (sixteen years ago) link

(this is actually quite true - xpost to laurel - even one of my close friends, who is pretty observant and fashiony was really surprised when i mentioned once how i was feeling lacklustre b/c my skin was crappy that day - she said she thought my skin always looked good! it certainly does not! but i do usually wear at least some sheer foundation or cover-up tho. on the other hand, i'm sure that there are some people who totally notice - and of course their opinion counts the most right? LOL. ugh. silly.)

i prefer dark grey to light grey

rrrobyn, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:09 (sixteen years ago) link

Next time I get my hair done it will be a magentaish red, which will really screw me - I've got a red hoodie that compliments this shade of red perfectly, and will probably be unwearable when I have pink tones. Sigh. Dressing really was a lot easier when I had blonde hair, but I'm only young once!

I am confused about the possible Saleisha.. she looks a LOT like her but I haven't seen those pics before, and the Livejournal ANTM community is very thorough about posting any that are found..

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:13 (sixteen years ago) link

probably her. hard to tell w/out the tootie cut. if it is her, she lookin haggard.

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:14 (sixteen years ago) link

these were on an invite only site for a specific collection. maybe theyre not anywhere else?

sunny successor, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:15 (sixteen years ago) link

I think I am the only person in the world that thinks red & pink look fucking AWESOME together (except if it is a pale pink).

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Do you dye yr own hairs, ffm?

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Sorry to derail DRESS LUVV.

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:16 (sixteen years ago) link

Surmounter, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:17 (sixteen years ago) link

isnt it??

sunny successor, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:18 (sixteen years ago) link

It is BADASS but I feel wicked self-conscious in sequins.

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:20 (sixteen years ago) link

I love the one at the top, the red one, the best.

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:20 (sixteen years ago) link

oh man i LOVE wearing sequins.

sunny successor, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:21 (sixteen years ago) link

no my mouthy hairdresser (see umm Manbag drama thread) does! She uses some awesome stuff called... uh, Elumen which I would use if I could buy & use on my own hair but I think you have to be licensed(?) to buy/use it. It's organic and crazy long lasting!

I actually do link pink and red but being tall, heavyset and awkward, the last thing I want to do is attempt to pull off daring coordinations. :D

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:31 (sixteen years ago) link

As long as this thread is for completely unobtainable items:

OH HELLO PHILLIP LIM DRESS THAT IS DELECTABLE AND ALSO $650.

oooooooooooooh!

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:37 (sixteen years ago) link

oh goodness, that's perfection

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:38 (sixteen years ago) link

It looks a bit drapey and unexcited on that model but I think it needs a) some curves, and b) a really matte red lipstick.

Laurel, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:40 (sixteen years ago) link

so now all we need is ...$650

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:42 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah curves + lipstick OTM

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:44 (sixteen years ago) link

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Haha actually it would never fit me but I'd love to try.

Laurel, Thursday, 14 August 2008 20:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Abbott, Thursday, 14 August 2008 21:02 (sixteen years ago) link

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 21:03 (sixteen years ago) link

tehresa, Thursday, 14 August 2008 21:07 (sixteen years ago) link

Oh god that $1700 jumper is divine. Why weren't we born filthy rich?

Finefinemusic, Thursday, 14 August 2008 21:10 (sixteen years ago) link

dresses with pockets are key

drash, Thursday, 13 August 2015 03:15 (nine years ago) link

God I know. Also I'll be riding in a car from Chicago so something comfortable would be nice, and this fits that bill, too. And it's long enough that I won't feel like I need to wear stockings.

carl agatha, Thursday, 13 August 2015 03:19 (nine years ago) link

yes vote from me, too

just1n3, Thursday, 13 August 2015 05:32 (nine years ago) link

i vote yes but only if you have a somewhat matching hair accessory, otoh i have never been to Milwaukee, a place i imagine where ppl eat ambrosia salad unironically, so

sarahell, Thursday, 13 August 2015 06:40 (nine years ago) link

I have no idea about the hair accessories, love the dress, and would like to learn from this by hearing about what kind of shoes should be worn with it.

ljubljana, Thursday, 13 August 2015 11:16 (nine years ago) link

pretty pretty dress, must get!

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Thursday, 13 August 2015 11:46 (nine years ago) link

I don't know about hair accessories (my hair is really short rn anyway). I have a pair of shoes I planned to wear but I would be very interested in seeing what shoes stylish people would recommend to see if my shoe instinct is anywhere near correct.

carl agatha, Thursday, 13 August 2015 11:51 (nine years ago) link

you may not have been to Milwaukee, sarahell, but Milwaukee has certainly had its share of visitors. The French missionaries and explorers were coming here as early as the late 1600s to trade with the Native Americans.

kinder, Thursday, 13 August 2015 12:35 (nine years ago) link

vote yes on the dress! very colorful, i like it.
milwaukee is super cool, ambrosia salad is not otm (maybe other parts of wisconsin but mke is home to some really cool ppl, ppl you would like sarahell!)
shoes? i know you don't like heels (i don't either) but i think you could probably wear whatever slightly dressy shoes you want because the shoes will not be the focal point of your outfit, the print of the dress will. the plainer the better in a situation like that imo.

La Lechera, Thursday, 13 August 2015 12:54 (nine years ago) link

xp to self, I'm sorry, I always have to do that at any mention of mil-e-wah-kee, that and Delaware. "Hi! I'm in Delaware")

kinder, Thursday, 13 August 2015 13:19 (nine years ago) link

milwaukee is super cool! as is the dress. LL otm re: shoes.

JuliaA, Thursday, 13 August 2015 13:22 (nine years ago) link

I've visited Milwaukee and loved it. It has a flying art museum (sort of - it has flapping wings), a great market, nice buildings...

ljubljana, Thursday, 13 August 2015 13:30 (nine years ago) link

I've been to Milwaukee one other time also for a wedding.

I was just in Delaware last week.

I bought the dress btw.
