I was seriously just considering using Zenni the other day, but a friend suggested they were undoubtedly constructed by child slaves. Buzzkill.

V - I really like the both glasses on you but the new ones look great.
I finally got a pic where you can see that mine are purple and green. After 6 months of having these I love them so much that I don't care that they were pretty $$$.

geometr teacher glasses are so hot. I'm severely limited in my choice of glasses since I'm a -6 and -7 which makes me really fucking blind and my lenses are so expensive as well (usually about four times the price of the glasses)
― Plaxico (I know, right?), Tuesday, 31 March 2009 21:39 (fifteen years ago) link
I'm trying to stop swearing.
i'm a -8.5 in one eye and -9 on another. you should see how thick these glasses are. literally a half-inch on the side. actually, you can see in both pics how thick they are from how much they distort the space around my eyes - my eyes literally look about half as big as they really are. but i just told the optometrist fuck you man, i want gigantic malcolm x glasses.

I missed the last few entries but those glasses are pretty badass, baja

I need sunglasses!
for sunglasses, i just picked a bigger, thicker frame off goggles4u.com with tinted prescription lenses.

That's exactly what I'm doing.. looking through Zenni right now.
I kind of love these but they may be too small :(

I still need to do this. They have some frames I LOVE at my opticians but they're like $200. Ugh.

xp yeah those look a little narrow height-wise

― ricardos montalban (tehresa), Friday, 22 May 2009 03:49 (fifteen years ago) link
I actually just have a wide face, haha.. they do look a bit short too now that I re-look at them. I am just sort of an old woman and like tacky floral prints.

those are nice! I had transition lenses in high school & picture day was a trial because the flashes semi-tinted my lenses! apparently the technology has improved..
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 22 May 2009 16:18 (fifteen years ago) link
yeah it only seems to react to sunlight/uv
― Ømår Littel (Jordan), Friday, 22 May 2009 16:19 (fifteen years ago) link
transition lenses! oh no! maybe ladies can get away with this but every dude who wears them == automatic perv
― roman knockwell (elmo argonaut), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:18 (fifteen years ago) link
does wearing sunglasses mean automatic perv?
― Ømår Littel (Jordan), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:19 (fifteen years ago) link
clear lenses is fine, sunglasses are fine, it's the in-between that's a real problem
― roman knockwell (elmo argonaut), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:23 (fifteen years ago) link
but if you can find some images of dudes in half-tinted specs who make it look stylish then by all means prove me wrong
― roman knockwell (elmo argonaut), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:24 (fifteen years ago) link
LOL ouch elmo! though I guess I haven't seen them on many men in my recollection.. it is mostly the ladies
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 22 May 2009 17:48 (fifteen years ago) link
i was just sick of not wearing sunglasses, or wearing sunglasses and having to keep track of my expensive glasses.
they get pretty dark in full sunlight btw.

at least you picked out nice frames! are they zenni? what % tint do they go to? don't know if I should order 100% tint or what
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 22 May 2009 18:20 (fifteen years ago) link
they're ted baker ("tokyo baby b127"). they didn't give me an option as far as tint % but they go as dark as normal sunglasses, which i was glad about (b/c admittedly the half-tint looks a little weird).
― Ømår Littel (Jordan), Friday, 22 May 2009 18:21 (fifteen years ago) link
yeah I was told by some random person online to go for 80% but I don't want to look like a douche! I want sunglasses! I have never been asked how much tint I want before, though, so I didn't know if maybe sunglasses are normally only 80% or something.. ah well
― she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Friday, 22 May 2009 18:23 (fifteen years ago) link
i would def go all the way if that is an option

londoners you need to check this out:
http://www.arckiv.net/http://www.myspace.com/arckivcamden
this guy, fraser, travels to palermo and madrid and marseilles and all over the goddman place to root around in ancient forgotten boxes of glasses, many of them never worn, and brings them back to london to sell for about the same price as a new pair at specsavers or whatever the fuck
his web "presence" is shitty but if you want a new pair of glasses go check him out, you will not regret it. i got a pair of original pierre marly wrap-arounds (http://www.cofrase.com/triangledor/marly/uk/historik.htm) and he put prescription lenses in, matching the original lens color
― Tracer Hand, Tuesday, 21 July 2009 16:55 (fifteen years ago) link
last time I got vintage frames fitted with prescription lenses they made me dizzy - I think it's cause the bridge was made of soft bendy aluminum, and when I adjusted them for my face (should have done this before sending them off) the measurements got thrown off

just ordered these with tinted lenses for sunglasses:
http://www.goggles4u.com/images/33589.jpg
$23.99 incl. shipping!!!
just got a 20% off coupon for being on their mail list: enter Save20 at the checkout if you wanna use it. i got the email last night and it expires in around 72hrs. their website is kinda screwy and pages take ages to load, but it's worth it!

what's the best way to fix broken plastic frames? super glue? epoxy?
― cozen, Friday, 28 May 2010 19:30 (fourteen years ago) link
go to goggles4u.com or zennioptical.com and buy new ones for $10 instead!

I already have £10 glasses! these unfortunately are p. expensive, so I'd like to repair them
― cozen, Friday, 28 May 2010 22:16 (fourteen years ago) link
I'd try super glue to start with, epoxy can be kind of a mess.
Ordered prescription sunglasses from ZenniOptical 2 weeks ago, now waiting on the package to arrive.

so I got those big cateyes above, ordered them online as a leap of faith. I might have chickened out if I had tried them on in a store but now that they're here I'm going to own the look. or something.
