huge-er zeitgeist-wise, anyway—obviously it hasn't toppled nike as a company

xp sales numbers don't tell the whole story though either. skechers outsold adidas too, but trust me, kids don't think skechers are cool.

the late great, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:11 (nine years ago)

adidas has some nice shoes these days is prob mostly what it comes down to

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:13 (nine years ago)

yeah the NMDs are probably the biggest culprit, with some Kanye. Also some smart nba signature shoe deals with Harden, Wiggins and Lillard after the disaster deal w Derrick Rose and Dwight Howard.

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:13 (nine years ago)

willingness to abandon the three stripes is helpful

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:14 (nine years ago)

sneakers w/o big brands on them def trending

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:15 (nine years ago)

then if u dont want a huge swoosh on it who cares who makes it anyway

lag∞n, Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:16 (nine years ago)

its not just nmds although those are like the flagship model though, folks are just a lot more open to adidas designs in general

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:17 (nine years ago)

adidas retro designs like stan smiths had a resurgence too

whatever rihanna was paid for this ad a few years back, it was not enough.

(nb its not an ad, nsfw)

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:19 (nine years ago)

three stripes can be worked into the design of a shoe much easier than a swoosh tru

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:20 (nine years ago)

aren't those overall sales figures? i feel like adidas' apparel game more on point than nike but just a vibe.

i like those "street socks" despite myself.

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 22:27 (nine years ago)

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 23:53 (nine years ago)

If white shoes are a gamble for you, sneakers may be something you spend less time and money on.

Not the real Tombot (El Tomboto), Wednesday, 22 March 2017 23:54 (nine years ago)

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 23 March 2017 00:01 (nine years ago)

jeez wtf 'dropped' is like the most basic of terms

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Thursday, 23 March 2017 00:12 (nine years ago)

I like those all whites more than the city sock

Lebro v. Wade (Spottie), Thursday, 23 March 2017 00:13 (nine years ago)

i have become allergic to it. it's me. like the words "artist" and "performance" and "smashed it" and "was everything" i juuuuuust caaaaaan't anymore but carry on

illegal economic migration (Tracer Hand), Thursday, 23 March 2017 00:17 (nine years ago)

Anyway adidas is definitely the shoe only cool people are wearing now because Washington DC is pretty much all Nike, New Balance and Converse

Not the real Tombot (El Tomboto), Thursday, 23 March 2017 00:23 (nine years ago)

Sneaker wise anyway, the oxfords and boots and shit are all indistinguishable provenance

Not the real Tombot (El Tomboto), Thursday, 23 March 2017 00:25 (nine years ago)

limited edition sneaker releases r such scams, theres plenty of great normal sneakers out there more than u cld ever wear, my two cents

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 March 2017 01:07 (nine years ago)

i mean hell i buy most of mine on sale

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 March 2017 01:07 (nine years ago)

the only ones I paid full price for are the actually non-clown looking woolrich ones (so warm) and the (limited edition of 1300) memorial day 2014 ones
if you pay full price for shoes you may also have a misunderstanding of the shoes supply chain

Not the real Tombot (El Tomboto), Thursday, 23 March 2017 01:15 (nine years ago)

these are so silly lol

would wear tho

oh hey dazzle ships for your feet, I support that

Not the real Tombot (El Tomboto), Thursday, 23 March 2017 03:48 (nine years ago)

yeah dont get me wrong i hate the 'limited drop' thing it makes being into sneakers deeply uncool imo esp when you can open up stockx & see right in front of you all the most popular stuff, it really makes it into a boring rich kid game

http://kicksdeals.com/section/best-deal/

btw you can usually find some good discount stuff here

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Thursday, 23 March 2017 10:34 (nine years ago)

Got myself these the other day:

http://www.adidas.co.uk/dis/dw/image/v2/aagl_prd/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-adidas-products/default/dw0c96d218/zoom/BA8889_01_standard.jpg?sw=2000&sfrm=jpg

Took a bit of trying things out. Nearly considered some fancy NMDs or some of those eye-watering grey-knit things but realised I am a bit too old and uncool to pull them off. These feel like a happy compromise.

Rename this thread butt lazer wack kix
Or maybe I should emigrate to the thread for 40 yo people

calstars, Thursday, 23 March 2017 11:31 (nine years ago)

kinda in love with those sneakers 龜 posted. the 'turbo red' stripe at the back is interesting, i think i am for it.

Roberto Spiralli, Thursday, 23 March 2017 13:40 (nine years ago)

yeah they're just the right side of ridiculous. also like the blue NMDs upthread.

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Thursday, 23 March 2017 15:28 (nine years ago)

Here's a thing: Designer trainers that cost £381 - are they really going to be any better in terms of comfort than Nike or Adidas? I get the impression that it's no.

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Thursday, 23 March 2017 15:29 (nine years ago)

no and the only people who will be able to tell the difference will also know that u spent 4 hundo on some white tennis shoes

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:03 (nine years ago)

it's ludicrous really

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:29 (nine years ago)

i almost bought knock off common projects once then i realized it was a lose-lose

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:30 (nine years ago)

i have common projects - they aren't really comfortable, one skinned my heel pretty bad at first. they are good leather tho, they don't scuff easily at all and wipe very clean even after a year or so. for all the talk of great design and minimalism etc the tongue on them is a bit long imo. but they are nice in summer with shorts or whatever.

i like white sneakers a lot - my last three pairs are our legacy classic sneaker, all of which i got for about 100, half price or whatever. love the shape of them, you get them in canvas or leather. prefer those to common projects. the common projects chelsea boots are nice - really comfortable and the suede doesn't stain as you might imagine.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:37 (nine years ago)

I was gonna say - I do like the understated white sneaker thing that's happening ATM but mine would be brown after a single night out dancing. What's the easiest way to clean things like that?

Lennon, Elvis, Hendrix etc (dog latin), Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:38 (nine years ago)

in general tho i'd say buyer beware about designer stuff, the price is no guarantee of quality whatsoever - some brands are really good quality, some aren't. the more luxe the brand often the worse the quality, but you know, equally i don't want to buy "built to last" men's workwear or whatever either, you're buying for the shape and the details and stuff. also some items just can't be amazing quality, like sneakers to an extent. if you buy leather shoes or a blazer or maybe knitwear, or a coat, you might expect higher quality based on the materials used. maybe.

xpost there are a good few brands that sell a little brush and some liquid for cleaning your white sneaks - jason marks is one, it's about 10 quid i think and lasts ages, really good product imo even if i have to gee myself up to be bothered washing my white sneakers.

^^ this is how i keep my white shoes fresh

the late great, Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:41 (nine years ago)

like most things in life it's a cycle, i'm currently sporting a massive beard, haven't got my haircut in weeks, need to start going back to the gym, and all my white sneakers need a scrub. i'll get back to the top of the mountain and begin descending again soon.

xpost

qft

the late great, Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:44 (nine years ago)

sneakers are basically disposable shoes is why i wont spend a lot of money on them, also while i own many pairs i dont even wear them that much anymore, lots of boots in the winter and then canvas shoes which tbf are sneakers but a diff category in the warm weather

lag∞n, Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:47 (nine years ago)

i would say common projects do actually last ages. my gripe was more about how they actually look rather than the quality. but tbh that's the other problem - something has to be really amazing for you to not get bored of it after a year or so. only certain items become favourites for years and it's prob random.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Thursday, 23 March 2017 16:50 (nine years ago)

they're also really fucking squeaky for the first few months

the adidas BOOST technology or w/e that looks like styrofoam actually is more noticeably comfortable than my other sneakers

, Thursday, 23 March 2017 18:47 (nine years ago)

yeah i hear the boost sole is really amazing though i haven't tried it myself yet
