ugh. That's like the fourth time lately I see a shoe I like that turns out to have some stupid star wars tie in.

I wanted to buy a pair of sneakers for the dry months, especially that looks good with light colored chinos and shorts, but I'm stumped. I hate logos, so I'm kind of screwed right off the bat, but I can tolerate plain minimally labeled stuff like Chucks and some Vans. I usually end up just getting white Chuck Taylor 70s, and I'll probably end up doing the same this year.

Anybody have any recent experiences with Greats? I'm liking these, but for $119 + shipping, they'd better be more durable than your average pair of Vans.

fwiw there are plenty vans looking skate shoes thatre built much more durable for skateboarding, not sure what they are off the top of my head but im sure u cld track some down

i personally enjoy the process of trashing a pair of vans over the summer

i wash and bleach them a bunch so they get all soft and worn in

then i keep last years pair on backup for when im washing this years

any of the pro Vans are infinitely more durable than the regular ones

to a slightly suspicious degree in fact...

not familiar with greats; may be a nice shoe in leather but eff paying $100+ for a knit sneaker that is by definition not durable.

i did see some about a year ago in lisbon. It was on a tram. no idea what the model was but i was pretty taken with them, they seemed understated but somehow a little different. I craned my neck around to try and see the brand on the tongue through everyone else’s ankles.

i think they're too dressed-up/euro for my current style but they would definitely catch my eye if i saw them around
