so im reading this book and this girl talks her size 12 friend out of buying a red top with the explanation "Noone over size 4 should wear red".

is this true??

sunny successor, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 17:13 (seventeen years ago)

That's crazy. I'm way over a size 4 and red is one of my favorite colors. I am wearing a red and pink skirt right now. Nonsense.

ENBB, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 17:15 (seventeen years ago)

not true!
and holy whoa like what % of the population is actually a size 4...
wait what crazy book is this

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 17:15 (seventeen years ago)

xpost

yeah i'm a size 10 and i love red (blue-red anyway) - it just has to be cut right, but the same can be said of any top in a brighter colour

rrrobyn, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 17:16 (seventeen years ago)

its a crappy book about daughters of hollywood agents etc

sunny successor, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 17:17 (seventeen years ago)

I looooooooooooooooooooooooove red and I'm oh around a size 12. Red is wonderful.

Laurel, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:18 (seventeen years ago)

i am very color-sensitive and tend to think solid red looks terrible especially on paler-skinned people

gabbneb, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

this is why i am anti-lipstick

gabbneb, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:23 (seventeen years ago)

last 2 dresses are fucking amazing

Surmounter, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

and Laurel you don't look like a size 12

not that i really know shit about sizes

Surmounter, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:24 (seventeen years ago)

red+white is nice, but there should be at least as much white as red (show more skin, lol)

gabbneb, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:25 (seventeen years ago)

I have a let's just say curvaceous lower body, it calls for a surprisingly large size of pencil skirt. Pref in red.

Laurel, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:33 (seventeen years ago)

My $10 H&M red and pink skirt mentioned above which I'm kind of in love with right now. Also pictured - my pasty white knees.

That picture is awesome.

L always yells at me because I usually only buy clothes that are black, grey, red or pink. Recent purchases have included blue and yellow because I'm trying to branch out a little. Red will always be my favorite though.

ENBB, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 18:52 (seventeen years ago)

xp I like even more that she's wearing a brooch AND a necklace (even though I think it's a pen). That's a combo that most people don't do anymore.

Laurel, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 19:04 (seventeen years ago)

your curvaceous lower bodies will not convince me that red is right

gabbneb, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 19:06 (seventeen years ago)

x-post She's gorgeous and I love everything about that picture and has outfit/accessories.

ENBB, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 19:58 (seventeen years ago)

red looks awful on me, i think. except for this one pink and red dress that's kind of salmon/rust.

bell_labs, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 19:59 (seventeen years ago)

'laurel' dress is/was vintage (on kaboodle.com) :(

i am kind of into this one tho i know it is a bit 80s/AmericanApparl. but i got legs and also i like pockets...

sunny successor, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 21:50 (seventeen years ago)

http://www.theseductionbible.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/brightandcheery.jpg
As you can see in this picture, just by his bright & vibrant clothing he is conveying soo much personality & energy. This is a perfect example of using bright colours alone to create a very lively persona. This look is obviously only for the guys who are literally bursting with energy & are self confident enough to wear this outfit to their advantage. Whereas if a shy & subdued guy tried wearing this very same outfit he would probably look like a social misfit with no dress sense & who is trying too hard to hide his insecurities. By the way, red is a colour of confidence.

This outfit will make full use of ALL the concepts of peacocking. For starters you will clearly be noticed amongst a bland crowd when wearing something as bright & attractive as this outfit. Women will be drawn to you like a fly is drawn to a light bulb. Also by dressing this indifferent to the timid masses you must be confident & live in your own reality which are both traits that women lust for.

Wearing something as bright & off the wall as this outfit will give women every reason they could possibly dream of to initiate a conversation with you. So by wearing this bright whacky outfit you kill three birds with one stone.

How to achieve this look

As you are probably aware, this look requires very little effort to achieve a very eccentric look. The two most important parts of this outfit are the very bright red skinny jeans & the dazzling whacky t-shirt. The key to creating an outfit that’s very wild & colourful is to choose 2 colours (three colours max when using bright clothing) that are bright & still gel well together.

oh dear

daria-g, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 23:25 (seventeen years ago)

i'd wear that but i don't know which guy i would be

Surmounter, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 23:26 (seventeen years ago)

You don't want to be the guy "LITERALLY bursting with energy", do you? Because then your blood would be all over the place.

Z S, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 23:29 (seventeen years ago)

oh dear

-- daria-g, Thursday, 31 July 2008 00:25

gabbneb, Thursday, 31 July 2008 04:56 (seventeen years ago)

omg

electricsound, Thursday, 31 July 2008 05:01 (seventeen years ago)

Okay gabbneb, I mean, I know it's personal aesthetics, diff'rent strokes, etc. but sweet lord my heart weeps for any womens'-appearance-appreciating individual who can't get behind pale skin + bright red dress + lipstick.

en i see kay, Thursday, 31 July 2008 05:42 (seventeen years ago)

I really really really want a red suit. Why can't I ever find one somewhere where I can try it on (which is U&K when you are my size. And no, that size is not 4!).

quincie, Thursday, 31 July 2008 13:43 (seventeen years ago)

nice black gloves and fake glass diamond necklace, me. classy.

sunny successor, Sunday, 3 August 2008 03:47 (seventeen years ago)

oh no way
you look so awesome! srsly! even if you were wearing that dress, necklace and gloves in an i-am-serious-grown-up-classy-person-now way.
i would wear that dress to a party (that called for dresses) today oh for sure. oh also, what i wore to highschool grad party was way cheesier. tho kinda showed that i didn't care that much, but still cheesy/hilarious.

rrrobyn, Sunday, 3 August 2008 13:36 (seventeen years ago)

omg IF ONLY I looked that awesome and timeless at senior prom! I also had a red dress, but it was short and not nearly as glamourous.

that prom ensemble is awesome btw! you look great

i didn't go to prom, at the time I refused to wear dresses, or shoes that weren't combat boots or converse style with stuff written all over them.. i did have to wear an off-white dress to graduation which i proceeded to match with steel toed docs.. my mom was pissed

daria-g, Monday, 4 August 2008 17:57 (seventeen years ago)

woah sunny i am jealous for all time over that prom pic!

i do not understand gab's dislike of fair people in red but love of fair-skinned celeb meg white in red pants?

btw i missed this thread but i wanted to say i LOVE red things. esp red dresses and shoes and coats and pants... ok i guess everything. i used to wear mostly black and red. now i have included purple in my wardrobe a lot more.

tehresa, Monday, 4 August 2008 18:07 (seventeen years ago)

i do not understand gab's dislike of fair people in red but love of fair-skinned celeb meg white in red pants?

red pants generally don't meet skin directly, but meg specifically looks fine in red shirts too. basically she looks good in anything. maybe it's the hair.
