i want to dress like them.
i know i'm 29 but i want to wear headbands, jumpers, colored tights and lipgloss all the time.
please help me.

bell_labs, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:38 (seventeen years ago)

i do not really like the school attire looks, but some of their home/weekend wear, yeah... i dig.

tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:39 (seventeen years ago)

i just want to look like leighton meester.

tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:41 (seventeen years ago)

to this effect i would maybe like a crested hopsack blazer? because obviously i need to look MORE academic on a day-to-day basis, sure

elmo argonaut, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:44 (seventeen years ago)

You could start with the flesh-colored fishnets or fencenets, I'm a fan of both. :)

Laurel, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:47 (seventeen years ago)

I've never seen the show but I covet that navy coat with the white ribbon trim. And I don't even LIKE navy.

Colored tights and blazers and red/white/black and super-prep is a great look, I'm all for it minus from the schoolgirl plaid skirts thing.

Laurel, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 15:56 (seventeen years ago)

it is a very hot look but it's a touch too perfect for me. i'd rough it up some. but i don't watch the show so i don't really know what i'm talking about.

Surmounter, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:00 (seventeen years ago)

I think these kinds of things are only "too perfect" on the actors who get touched-up every scene; I have the feeling that in real life by the end of the work-day you're already imperfect enough. At least *I* sure feel that way.

Laurel, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:04 (seventeen years ago)

i don't really watch the show either. i watched it last night. was that the season finale from last year? serena telling blair she killed someone?

they film on the steps of my work all the time and to be honest the clothes look ridiculous irl. but i still want to wear headbands.

bell_labs, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:06 (seventeen years ago)

haha me too! i get to, sometimes, when i play tennis ;)

Surmounter, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:08 (seventeen years ago)

i love my headbands, but since they're the hard plastic kind they get a bit painful by the end of the day.

lauren, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:16 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, i have that problem with plastic headbands too. they give me headaches! ha

bell_labs, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

it was not the finale (haha aren't i embarrassing myself here by knowing that!)... all is revealed before the finale!

they also film at the hotel where laurel and i do the jewelry show :)

tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:18 (seventeen years ago)

i think my head might be too big for headbands? i don't know. maybe i should try ribbons.

tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:19 (seventeen years ago)

they also film at the hotel where laurel and i do the jewelry show :)

uh, what jewelry show do you do?

Surmounter, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:19 (seventeen years ago)

ORLY, theresa??!?

Surm: we do some set-up and tear-down for R_uth T@ubman but the show is invite-only and I don't want to make it google-able here or put the hotel name out, but you can see her work if you replace the characters and google her name.

Laurel, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:24 (seventeen years ago)

WAIT SO WHO DID SERENA KILL?!

bell_labs, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:25 (seventeen years ago)

wow, fun guys!

Surmounter, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:27 (seventeen years ago)

re: crested blazer -- is this a wearable look? i know it's been showing up on runways on and off for a while -- not sure i would be able to pull it off. maybe if the crest was of the rhode island state flag i could actually rep for something? ah, idle fashion fantasies.

elmo argonaut, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:29 (seventeen years ago)

ja laurel, a bunch of them supposedly live there, though the interiors are diff. they use that awesome outside front area.

tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:30 (seventeen years ago)

hmmmm make your crest some band logo or something? haha. i think you could def. make the crested blazer work, elm

tehresa, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:31 (seventeen years ago)

I say work the blazer but make the "crest" patch something...anomalous. Get yeah either a band patch or a sports team patch or something.

Laurel, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 16:33 (seventeen years ago)

I have a soccer supporter's club patch of a fighting skunk dressed like a Brooklyn cabbie that I need to find a home for. Maybe I put it on my Theory suit jacket. ;)

crested blazers are dope

max, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 17:17 (seventeen years ago)

elmo argonaut, Tuesday, 12 August 2008 17:17 (seventeen years ago)

i love the crested blazers.. haven't been able to find one that fits me though...

state crest would be cool, i like this version better than the flag..

unfortunately MD or DC version would make one look like a security guard, i'm pretty sure

not to confirm stereotypes or anything, but last dude i saw wearing a crested blazer seemed to be after a Terry-Benedict-in-Ralph-Lauren look while marshaling his suburban-grandma-styled wife and njguido.com son through grand central on a holiday weekend

i still want to wear headbands.

don't we all

gabbneb, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 04:54 (seventeen years ago)

I need to find a cheap thrift blazer I can crest asap

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 10:44 (seventeen years ago)

i like the idea of using an iron-on embroidered patch of some band as the crest but it would have to be something unexpected, i don't think anyone wants to be all HI DERE ZOSO and dress like jack black in school of rock tbh.

elmo argonaut, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 13:32 (seventeen years ago)

I have a hand-cross stitched Gerty Farish patch somewhere, with a ladybug on it and "GF" embroidered in lavender floss. It's pretty funny, no idea where it orig came from.

Laurel, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 13:35 (seventeen years ago)

make a patch out of this -->

In one of the episodes where Jenny is grounded, Rufus is wearing some kind of collarless shirt. It looks really bad on him (it makes him look like a priest), but I can't help but think I'd look good in it. I need advice. (I'm gonna try to dig up a picture.)

Like... in black?

Mordy, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 18:39 (seventeen years ago)

if you are an inmate or live in a concentration camp, that look is hottt!

remy bean, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 18:42 (seventeen years ago)

the term is "band collar"

elmo argonaut, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 18:50 (seventeen years ago)

...Or Amish.

Laurel, Wednesday, 13 August 2008 18:52 (seventeen years ago)

two weeks pass...

-serena's grecian look at the white party, so gorgeous
-chuck's tux/ascot thing. Chuck pretty much killing it all episode style-wise
-everyone else looked retarded

bell_labs, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 02:33 (seventeen years ago)

Blair, too laura ashley with the florals hun. And was her white party dress made of doilies? She still managed to look adorable thanks to having a headband for every occasion

bell_labs, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 02:38 (seventeen years ago)

even the barette + headband combo? mostly she looked adorable becuz it was leighten imo

the only one that looked straight retarded was eric and that dude always looks a little palsy... maybe the haircut? or just bad acting. oh and nate dressed like the dad in a charmin commercial at the party was lulz

Lamp, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 03:40 (seventeen years ago)

what is with eric's less than zero hair?

Yerac, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 11:21 (seventeen years ago)

i thought serena's grecian look was obvious and boring, but then i kind of hate her. most of the women's clothes were lousy, really. jenny's creation was a variation on the doily theme, as well. not surprised her witchy boss refused to wear it.

lauren, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 14:04 (seventeen years ago)

i usually think serena is boring and kind of whiny, but i loved her headpiece/updo with the curls spilling out so much.

bell_labs, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 19:59 (seventeen years ago)

Thousand words, picture, etc. C'mon, kids, help a non-tv-having sister out.

Wow that's doing nothing but making her breasts look like sewn-on softballs.

Laurel, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 21:10 (seventeen years ago)

(Thanks, Lauren!)

Laurel, Tuesday, 2 September 2008 21:10 (seventeen years ago)

i really liked blair's outfit when she was riding bikes in the hamptons.

tehresa, Thursday, 11 September 2008 03:20 (seventeen years ago)

i have a feeling sunny would rock far right chicks outfit in a heatbeat

DZL (deeznuts), Thursday, 11 September 2008 03:24 (seventeen years ago)

i dont know deez. im not sure how wise it is to wear a dress that makes your middle section look gigantic and your chest really tiny.

i wanna rock far left dress but it would look like a sack

Bright Future (sunny successor), Thursday, 11 September 2008 13:54 (seventeen years ago)

i love the black/silver dress. that pink thing is an abomination. momsen got picked up by IMG, btw. a bunch of test shots are on fashionista.

lauren, Thursday, 11 September 2008 14:11 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

i have to wonder, if jenny is so fashion why does she dress like she's special needs??

******* (Lamp), Tuesday, 14 October 2008 03:58 (seventeen years ago)

seriously. that dress she was wearing was horrifying.

Bright Future (sunny successor), Tuesday, 14 October 2008 04:18 (seventeen years ago)
