oh jesus i hate brothel creepers with a passion
― Rubyredd, Thursday, 19 June 2008 13:05 (seventeen years ago)
I don't hate them, but I don't really "get" them, either. I think that whole wave of style came and went without my really noticing until people resurrected them for rockabilly/jive/whatever purposes.

I wore creepers in college. Ha. Can't ever imagine wearing them now and I never thought they were really all that comfortable to walk in.
― ENBB, Thursday, 19 June 2008 13:31 (seventeen years ago)
i've never heard of this.

why are they called this? do they have crepe soles or are they made for stealthy movement or what?
― elmo argonaut, Thursday, 19 June 2008 15:10 (seventeen years ago)
yes it is because they are quiet in the whorehouse that is London.
Hugely trendy again in London thanks to Agy Deyn (along with big fat Docs).
I always have a pair of very tall black ones on standby.

Wait a minute Docs and Creepers are being brought back? Hmmmm. I had a massive collection of Docs at one time. I should have saved them! lol.

oh man.
If anyone wants to investigate this further (but I'm pretty sure you won't) and if I remember correctly, I got mine at Trash and Vaudeville in NY. Is that even around still?

I saw someone wearing little white canvas sneakers like Keds that were styled like creepers, with the black piping and black weaving and black laces. I sort of liked them. Don't rly like the real thing, though. Too hard to bike in.
I wore creepers in college.
yeah me too! i don't have them any more. :(

trash and vaudeville will still be around after nuclear war, along with the cockroaches and keith richards.

You know, I was going to say something like that earlier. Thank you for making me laugh with a mouth full of salad.

haha, the rockabilly look is pretty "jive" imo.
plus it's another thing that will still be around post-armageddon. jesus will come back to earth with a full sleeve of tattoos, accompanied by some chick sporting bettie page-like stylee
― dell, Thursday, 19 June 2008 17:38 (seventeen years ago)
HA. I figured as much but the last time I was there was when I bought those creepers which had to be at least 12 years ago so you never know.
