do you guys mind having a catch-all thread for quick questions? seems like it could be useful, instead of people starting a 2-answer thread.
ok, so i'm going through clothes mercilessly before we move. and it turns out that i have quite a lot of socks, bras and underwear that i want to get rid of because i just don't wear them (wrong size, uncomfortable, whatever). they're in good shape, things that have holes went in the trash. but what do i do with these? it seems stupid to throw them out, but will the local charity shop want them? can i take them to a textile recycler? i honestly have no idea, so would welcome any thoughts. (sorry if this is a really weird question, i just don't want all this stuff to go sit in a landfill if i can help it)

I think I read somewhere recently about how there is shortage of needed underwear (especially bras) donated for women, because people tend to guess that they shouldn't.

yeah i've seen tons of undergarments at goodwill, etc. donate away! at least if they don't use it, they'll be the ones to throw it out, and you won't feel asl guilty.

If they're a natural fiber (cotton, silk, etc.) maybe you could compost them? I mean that may sound really stupid but at least would be a good option in lieu of throwing away the holey ones?
I'm a gardening nerd and read the compost forum on GardenWeb; those people will happily compost ANYTHING.
