i have two different pairs of eyeglasses. one pair is black, rectagular, double-bridged and modern. the others are a low tortoiseshell browlines. i wear each pair with relatively the same frequency. however, i have found that i compulsively "match" my eyewear to my footwear. If I'm wearing black, or brightly colored shoes, I have to wear the black glasses. The totoiseshells, in my opinion, must be worn with brown or otherwise neutrally-colored footwear. the eyewear/footwear combo, in turn, influences the rest of my outfit for the day. if something doesn't meet my standards of "matching" then i am subtly but deeply bothered all day.

am i alone in this? am i insane? i though having "options" for eyewear would be liberating, but it's not.

^ this is part of the reason why i don't wear a watch -- i could only wear it either half the time, or else i would have to get two.
