Nail Varnish/Polish

I've never been good at wearing nail varnish before, it's always looked tarty and nasty on me, even with two coats or a top coat, it always chips off at the top of my nails and looks cheap.

I'm having another stab at it - subtle and sheer colours just now. I've tried OPI stuff but it's still only lasting a day or two. I should stick to the cheapo ones.

Your thoughts on nails?

i can't do it, it makes me my nails feel like they're choking. so, i paint my sister's nails for fun.

I used to love it, wierd and whacky colours when I was in my 20s, my favourite colour was petrol blue, closely followed by green. Can't remember the last time I had any on now though, I'm too lazy to take it off when it gets chipped.

Tip to keep it lasting longer - clean your nails with polish remover first to get rid of excess oils, and also use a clear base coat - helps prevent staining your nails too.

I used to wear red every single day without fail. I'd do them at least every other day without fail to avoid chips. it kept me from biting my nails.

but now that i'm no longer single nor in a job where I have to deal with people constantly I'm back to plain and chewed. I did paint my toes the other night and my boy got all suspcious. :( I do think painted toenails are better.

I finally stopped biting my nails last year at the age of 28. The only way I was able to do it was to have them manicured regularly. I had mine done last night, actually. They're a nice OPI red. If they look nice, I don't bite them.
I keep mine short - just to the ends of my fingertips and the best way I've found to prevent chips is to pait the top edges. Also, OPI makes a product called "Chip Skip" which goes on before anything else and that really seems to help. You should reapply a topcoat every other day. It helps with the chipping and keeps the polish "fresh" looking.

I used to wear nail polish but haven't done so for years - I don't actually know that many men who like nail polish on a girl. Maybe my guy friends are just strange like that.

I use one of those nail buffing kits regularly, to make my nails shine like glass. They're amazing.

Whenever I have tried a clear base, it always made the colored polish bubble. Yuck.

it made the polish peel off too easily for me. but without it, colors like red will stain your nails. (also r/z that's just a case of not waiting long enough for it to dry I think)
