Men in suits: belt or no belt?

I know that the purist thing to do is to give the belt a miss when wearing a high-end suit (not to disrupt the harmony of the fabric... *yawn*) but I really find it awkward. I suspect you need a tall and lean figure to pull this off.

my belt is usually the only thing keeping my pants up, given the size of my arse relative to my waist.

If you have pants that are tailored with adjustable straps at the hips, you don't need a belt, nor, generally, would you be able to wear one since they would omit any belt loops. I don't think, if your pants are properly fitted and so is your jacket, that the added security of a belt will ruin the line of your suit, but if that's what your fear, some bretelles would work admirably.

yeah, it's pretty easy for me :
if your trousers have adjustable straps : no belt, no suspenders
if they don't but have suspenders buttons : suspenders
otherwise : belt

yeah for me I just find it weird not to wear any belt, so I basically always wear one

I have some and like them in general but, somehow, I almost never wear them.
