okay so this one: http://15dollarstore.com has a lot of crap but occasionally there's a little gem to be found and EVERYTHING IS $15 !!!!

also, this store: http://www.yesstyle.com/en/home.html is mostly Korean designers, mostly v. cheap, and has the best clothes EVER.

I like http://www.notcouture.com/ for general stylin

Love yesstyle, although one skirt I ordered from there was TINY. I think they have a store in SF but I haven't been yet.

UK store http://www.asos.com/Woman/ has a good range of stuff cheap to pricey, but I like it most because it started off as a celeb style rip-off store (ASOS = As Seen on Screen). I've bought quite a few things from there.

two months pass...

I have to buy a suit this weekend. My only suit, so it should kind of be all things to all people. But I don't like so many women's suit jackets that I'm struggling with the idea. Can I get some ideas about whether this is "business" enough for a not-very-suity industry?

Literally in my 8 years on the job I've never needed a suit before, if that gives you some idea of how not really very formal it is.

Would put the same-fabric pencil skirt on the bottom.

it's cute but why are the sleeves so shrinky? i would want full sleeves for that $$, but that's me.
why you need a suit this weekend?

housedress? maxidress! (La Lechera), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 18:19 (fifteen years ago)

I have short arms! Suit sleeves often too long for me, and the bracelet-length or 3/4-length sleeve is a good way around this.

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 18:20 (fifteen years ago)

man this just makes me wish there were more petite clothing outlets that weren't total ugs

housedress? maxidress! (La Lechera), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 18:22 (fifteen years ago)

The macy's website has some good candidates and I would love to own a Tahari suit for instance, even their down-market line, but they don't appear to offer petite sizing so fuck 'em.

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Wednesday, 13 April 2011 18:43 (fifteen years ago)

man, thanks for that $15 link above sunny! no XL dresses that caught my eye YET but I will check back often bwahahaha

Bought this and the matching same-fabric pencil skirt.

Also tried a hundred other things but forget it, this was the only possibility for fit.

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 13:58 (fifteen years ago)

Wearing the skirt today and I was afraid it'd be too tight to comfortably sit in, but it's perfectly fine! La la la la happy.

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:01 (fifteen years ago)

I really love that suit Laurel.

ENBB, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:04 (fifteen years ago)

If I had to wear fancy stuff to work I'd choose something like that. Currently wearing jeans.

ENBB, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:04 (fifteen years ago)

Oh I wore jeans yesterday, and all my jeans have holes in them so they weren't even NICE jeans. Felt like a grub, so I went all-out today.

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:06 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, it's nice to do that sometimes but then when I do I think people get suspicious that I have an interview or something. lol.

ENBB, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:07 (fifteen years ago)

lightinabox.com has me sifting through tiaras, imagining I am a princess

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:25 (fifteen years ago)

but what I really want is a big, feathery, glittery fascinator. any ideas?

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:28 (fifteen years ago)

have you searched etsy? friend of mine got a great fascinator on there.

ENBB, Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:32 (fifteen years ago)

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:36 (fifteen years ago)

oh Laurel, you goddess! xo

Erica: I have searched Etsy but nothing quite to my liking that isn't say, $200. which is probably worth it, but I can't afford :)

want similarish to http://www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Statement-Sinamay-Bow-And-Ribbon-Fascinator/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=1445332&cid=11412&sh=0&pge=2&pgesize=20&sort=-1&clr=Black but in white

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:38 (fifteen years ago)

Hm I like that ASOS one more than anything on the site I suggested.

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:40 (fifteen years ago)

You might have to suck it up and spend the money for the quality you want.

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:40 (fifteen years ago)

people get suspicious that I have an interview or something

my workplace is pretty casual so when I put even marginal effort into getting dressed i'll hear "HOW WAS THE INTERVIEW, HAW HAW" with disturbing frequency

i can tina turner (elmo argonaut), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:43 (fifteen years ago)

EN, I web-mailed u btw!

Back up the lesbian canoe (Laurel), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 14:47 (fifteen years ago)

sad thing is, with a white wedding dress & slightly gold tinge to the beading, bright red hair, I don't think the black ASOS one will work :( I do love it though!

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 19 April 2011 15:17 (fifteen years ago)

Everytime I google/etsy search fascinator I find something even more expensive that I love just a bit more.

while it's fresh: http://www.oasis-stores.com/ some of the dresses on here seriously making me want to ask a UK friend to ship them to me in poor, neglected Canada..
