basically i'm only wearing t-shirts and plain ones at that. i don't even like half the t-shirts in my closet and another half is too small
i have a couple of nicer short sleeve shirts from macy's but they are almost as boring as my polos
almost all my clothes are several years old

halp

Halp him upda his summer clothes.

kkvgz, Thursday, 10 June 2010 18:27 (fifteen years ago)

Seriously, what works for me is just head down to walmart, pick up some plain Hanes tagless tshirts, a couple of their more basic superhero tshirts (i.e. no "all-over print"), some flip flops, a couple pairs of Wranglers, some NON-CARGO shorts, and a straw hat. Try and stay away from the sports stuff.

kkvgz, Thursday, 10 June 2010 18:33 (fifteen years ago)

I am set for the summer.

kkvgz, Thursday, 10 June 2010 18:34 (fifteen years ago)

Please somebody post to this thread who will actually help Capt.

kkvgz, Thursday, 10 June 2010 18:35 (fifteen years ago)

as someone who hates shorts I would recommend buying some pants made out of really lightweight fabric. what that kind of lightweight fabric is called, I couldn't tell you, you should just go to the store and see if there are any light enough.

also, wifebeaters

vests, polo style shirts, short sleeve button down, longsleeve button down w rolled up sleeve, caps, non-white socks, CUTE sneakers (not running shoes), acceptable sandals and no cargo = good

shorts that are solid in print and not too light in color can be good. this isn't highschool no more.

non-white socks

even with shorts?

not even with shorts, unless they're like actual white SOCKS and not just white sports socks. sports socks in general not a good idea unless you're going to work out.

upda

kkvgz, Friday, 11 June 2010 17:48 (fifteen years ago)

uffda! my summer clothes!

surm, thanks for the important distinction between sport socks and actual socks. I think this explains why I always feel my socks look weird. Next time I go out shoppin' I am definitely going to spend some time in the hosiery aisle.

anytime :) it really pulls your look together

see this is actually an issue imo--i have no white socks except for v. short ankle socks i wear with shorts and (cute) sneakers. i guess technically they are sport socks. is there something else i should be looking for, surm?

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 June 2010 18:34 (fifteen years ago)

if you want white, just get some plain white cotton socks that aren't "sport socks" like this

http://www.biztrademarket.com/User/183290/bb/sl382976_jp8.jpg

if you can't find shorter ones, you can cuff them in half if you want them short (they often make shorter ones for girls, but not necessarily guys). also blue/brown/tan/patterned cotton socks go with pretty much anything.

also short black sport socks are a much more acceptable option than white, available at any dept store

glowy and highlighted and blushy and bronzy (surm), Friday, 11 June 2010 18:46 (fifteen years ago)

(this is all for non-sports related reasons, obv. for sports you can wear whatever the hell you want)

I know I need a style adjustment just because I haven't bought new clothes in forever. I only own baggy jeans and cargo shorts. My tees are mostly crap. I don't have the kind of body for a wifebeater nor have I ever had the desire to wear one. I was gonna get some new shoes but I want them to be ortohpedic/running shoes (or something similar) because all the shoes I own usually make the soles of my feet hurt after walking a mile

My tees are pretty bad too. I have maybe three that I actually like and fit me. The rest are just there

Polos are the boringest shirts in the world

I only wear one pair of shoes and white socks work with them so I've never considered another color

CaptainLorax, Friday, 11 June 2010 18:53 (fifteen years ago)

1. go to primark
2. go to uniqlo

flamelurker (cozen), Friday, 11 June 2010 18:55 (fifteen years ago)

can i speak to you on a guy-to-guy level here and just say that a lot of girls find polos unbelievably sexy. also on a gay-to-guy level, they're always in style. but if you find them boring, not much i can say :(

glowy and highlighted and blushy and bronzy (surm), Friday, 11 June 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

cl are you in the uk? primark polos are £2-a-piece

flamelurker (cozen), Friday, 11 June 2010 19:17 (fifteen years ago)

they actually fit OK too; dunno how well they wash tho

flamelurker (cozen), Friday, 11 June 2010 19:17 (fifteen years ago)

thx for the sox advice surm!

call all destroyer, Friday, 11 June 2010 19:24 (fifteen years ago)

Eh, rugby shirts are better than polos. I'm just saying that if you want a nice shirt you can do something less boring than polo. Not that there is a time and place for polos. Like going to work

CaptainLorax, Friday, 11 June 2010 19:52 (fifteen years ago)

love rugby shirts but do they come in shortsleeve?

glowy and highlighted and blushy and bronzy (surm), Friday, 11 June 2010 19:54 (fifteen years ago)

I don't know. I don't own any... yeah I'm looking for summer clothes so you got a point

CaptainLorax, Friday, 11 June 2010 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

Polo shirts not inherently horrible but it does take something to make them part of your "look" and not like every other douchebag's. Not sure what that something is, prob different for everyone?
