Help me pick what to wear on my feet during freezing winter at the beach.

I can't figure out what you wear on your feet during the East Coast snowy winters. I will be in sand and cold, which are conditions that are somewhat new to me. Rain boots seem silly. Regular hiking boots seem like they will get sand inside.

This environment will soon be my reality. I am posting pictures of boots and shoes here and looking for some advice/help.

Sorrel is known these days a maker of boots for snowboarding, their water- and sand-resistance levels are probably pretty high. Maybe you could find a pair of last season's styles on sale?

Thats a good idea. I am on a retarded budget right now due to moving and stupid legal fees, so I need something affordable + functional. Sorrels are adorable!

Everyone loves brightly printed knock-off Wellies these days, and I like them in theory but the WORST girls wear them, and everywhere, at the slightest hint of moisture in the air. And they make grown women look like toddlers. So I just can't support.

I like a pair of leopard print wellies but just can't do it. They are super cheap and would work for what I need them for but I think I would look like an overgrown 2 year old.

I would maybe buy the plainest, most fisherman-y, most masculine and undecorated and UGLIEST pair I could find and then wear them with crazy knee-socks and an insulated foot liner. If I were on a budget. I mean you have to have warm, dry feet, after all.

The only Army/Navy surplus website has a knee-high rubber boot in red and black for $25. Would totes buy.

Steel shanked! Men's sizes, so god only knows where they start in women's numbers. But cheap and no-frills.

haha i like the look of bright hunter's & the lined verz are by all accounts both comfortable and waterproof but theyre arent v cheap either...

id second laurel's duck boots nom - you can often find cheap older pairs of ll bean or land's end at 2nd shops

I found nothing at the thrift store as far as footwear. I did find a warm Dickies windbreaker lined with fleece and a pair of lime green snowboarding gloves with glove liners.

Those Wabi shoes that Kat posted are actually perfect but very expensive for a shoe I wouldn't wear anywhere else.

Oh, okay! We go to the beach in the winter, too, but we have winter boots for, you know, SNOW already, so we don't have to wonder what we're going to wear. I never really thought about it before. Thought you were taking up some kind of winter hobby involving catching...things or...yeah I have no idea.

I don't really have any winter boots that aren't fuzzy and would get sand all in and over them...

Also, I very well may take up a winter hobby catching things! I will be one block from the Avalon fishing pier!

Kat - not good for a beach walk, for sure!

you can get lined rain boots at a work-wear place and wear thick wool socks with them, if you want to go for cheaper + practical.
but i don't know, i mean, it's the beach, so ultimately you want waterproof/resistant + comfort when walking on sand. i don't find that rain boots are good to walk in at all - i wld opt for cheaper hiking boots - at least you can go into town then and not feel like a dork in giant dirty rain boots. yes, i know it's a "look"... my mom lives in a west-coast beach town and really the only people who wear wellies into town are tourists and kids and sometimes tired fishermen.

I'm thinkin a short/ankle boot that's a cross between rain boots and those sorels up there and hiking boots, and cute! it should exist! somewhere!

I got a pair of wellies - well capelli brand - for christmas from my mom & they are working out perfect for walking on the beach in the winter cold. they came with boot liners that are like knee socks but made of fleece and are thick like a coat liner.
