I moved to New York as an openminded but ignorant midwesterner in 97 and took a job on Prince St b/w Tompkins and Sullivan. I would wander around SoHo wide-eyed on lunch breaks or when running errands etc. I had an interest in fashion and noticed Anna Sui and agnes b, neither of whom I was familiar with (yet), had shops right next to each other on Greene St south of Prince. I remember really liking them both. These days I am familiar with both and would have a hard timing choosing one. Guess I was feeling nostalgiac.

haha i arrived in 96, doing pretty much the same thing in the same neighborhood. i used to get slices at the ben's pizza of soho a LOT. i would get sandwiches from the sandwich nazi A LOT. i would get the bento box from some place A LOT. very occasionally i'd meet someone at fanelli's.

I ate at Fanelli's a few times. Raoul's was right across the street and was "the place Brad Pitt likes". Mainly I'd get sandwiches at Olive's where I'd be the one frumpy Gap-cladded nerd in a line of supermodels. p.s. my boss at the time was the idiot who opened the East Village Y4cht Club if you remember that abortion.
