getting older: reign your style in or push the boat out?

maybe not many of you are old enough to have a view but Vivienne Westwood's recent comments that only the old have any individuality or style have caused a bit of discussion.

should we follow conventional wisdom and dress more conservatively as we age or take the chance to go wild? i think i'm a bit stuck style-wise so i think i should use turning 40 as an excuse to take some risks, why the hell not?

yeah i don't know, some people are into style and some people aren't.
like, i see 20-somethings with no style all the time! and even more 30-somethings with no style. and so on.
but people with style, imo, keep on having it as they age. my mom is 62 and srsly wears skinny jeans and cute tops and fitted tunic sweaters and practical but fine-looking shoes. it's not high-fashion but it's stylish.

i think my personal style is kind of weird, stylish but not super fashion or anything, as much as i love fashion. i feel like as i get older, and this has already been happening here and there, i will get more fashion or at least weirder with fashion. and i look forward to it.

two weeks pass...

i really like the 'advanced style' ladies and i kinda agree w/vw i think its harder to have an 'individual style' once youre over the age of 14 and under the age of like 50.

that said i think i look really stylish today so

I LOVE the "Advanced Style" ladies. I can only hope to be 1/3 as fabulous as they are when I'm that age. I plan to go all out when I'm old and it's going to be awesome. Basically what R said here ". i feel like as i get older, and this has already been happening here and there, i will get more fashion or at least weirder with fashion. and i look forward to it".
