Dr. Astrophysics (A. Lingbert), Saturday, 11 November 2006 04:27 (nineteen years ago)

what are orbitals

pabs (Pablo A), Saturday, 11 November 2006 04:30 (nineteen years ago)

Pabs,
Occasionally, the instability of celestial objects leads to a sloughing phase. During this phase, celestial ejecta often becomes captured by the parent object's gravitational force, thus setting the ejecta into an orbit around the parent object. Hence the name orbitals. This is how the Earth's moon was formed, for example.

The minimal-to-nonexistant atmosphere on the orbitals often leads to halcyon visual condtions. If you were able to stand on such an object, you would see one perfect sunrise.

Dr. Astrophysics,

http://l.yimg.com/img.avatars.yahoo.com/users/1PyQDrQ41AAEBvYM1qbNEFxmLKw==.medium.jpgIt is difficult to comprehend how large the universe really is. I mean, our existence is meaningless because we are so small compared to the universe itself. I'm sure somewhere out there far far away someone is thinking the same thing. And people far beyond that take up the same question: "Are we really alone in this vast expanse of space?" To answer that, I think we are not alone. Imagine the unimaginable...
Anyways, the question. Is the universe really infinite, does it have a boundary, is it inside another galaxy, or some other crazy thing??? Any theories/opinions would be helpful. Thanks.

With Love,
bionicteaman
