I don't really hate it. It's just the people who shop there annoy me sometimes. I've bought a couple shirts from there. It is really over priced though.

i go in there sometimes to see if there's anything good. sometimes they have something that's worth it but not normally. and i agree with fobenest, it's not so much the store but the people.

i think hot topic is so contridicting to its self. it pretty much reads "fuck the mainstream" and its owned by GAP. its so over priced and targeted to people that want to be different and make a statement when they are just falling into that pit. its stupid. personally i make my own clothes or buy them from second hand stores because overpriced thin clothing doesnt appeal to me.

i buy the other stuff they sell, 80% of my shirts come from that store, either the horror movies stuff, the video game stuff the johen vasquez stuff
they have alot of awesome other stuff there to, and its my fav clothes shop
even though im not into the black shirts that have like a funny saying on the like "i see dumb people" ive never been into those, but all the other stuff is real good

i love the clerance section as well
i got a matrix shirt for 2 bux
i got a system of a down jersy for 14
a long silver matrix type coat for 12
a type o negitive shirt for 2 bux
lots of good buys sometimes

so in closing...i love the store

I go in Hot Topic like once in a blue moon. They are over-priced or maybe im just too damn poor I really don't know but it is true, the employees and people who shop their got some type of funky attitude. Also the damn store is too small! I almost got in a fist fight with some chick because I was in "her" way. I mean come on I need to breathe. Then they have this little section of thongs and crap and basically a little selection of everything. They really need to get bigger stores. Then on ad's they say they have this and that and then I go their and they don't got jack-ass.

I can see why some people like the store because it has some nice little wrist bands and accessories but come on, 7 bucks for a misfits wristband that dosn't even look real. As I said before I go in and out, hi and bye, I don't take 8 minutes in their because I know someone would get hurt (probably me hehe). I don't hate the store with a passion but I think they should do something more to help their customers out and get some people with manners. They act all concieted like they "love" rock and heavy metal.. as If they think Linkin Park is hardcore.. geez.

When I head in their the people give me some looks that I can't define. Like if im weird? So what if I am, can I just get a spike collar and go? From my area I havn't found any other rock store so thats currently the one I go to. Yes, Suncoast is one of my favorite stores but they don't have my size clothes and I find them expensive aswell. As far as Hot-Topic they need to ajust themselves but I really don't care because like I said, it's in and out im gone.

If naything it's cashing in on the punk scene, giving little pop-punkers the illusion that they really are unique and cool.
Cashing in on the pop-punk scene, well the whole pop-punk scene was the fuck toy of the media to begin with, so i think hot topic is just contributing to the whoreness of pop-punk.

i love how the store is cashing in on the uniquness of being-cool-to-the-uncool(which is basically a definition of saying fuck mainstream) yet they are in fact mainstream.

Honestly, I don't wear the type of clothing that they sell, but it's still a kind of cool place to look around. They've had some pretty cool Nightmare Before Xmas stuff in there and I've bought some of the Spongebob stuff for my niece. Yeah, it's overpriced, but so is every other mall store.

I could care less about hating any store, seems sort of stupid anyway. I buy my clothes from everywhere, alot from Spencer's Gifts actually. I buy some shirts from Hot-Topic, but honestly, who gives a shit where people shop? It's their money, let them spend it where they want to. I congradulate Hot Topic on being able to take advantage of teenagers today and make money off of it. If you don't like it, don't shop there, but for god sakes stop complaining...

I don't boycott any store ... well, one exception, I refuse to buy music from Wal-mart, but that's expected. My tastes in clothing have always been a bit ... off. And I wear what I like, I always have. I shop everywhere, from second-hand thrift stores to Nordstrom, if I see something I like and I've got the cash, I buy it. I've never worn anything because it's cool, but if something I like happens to be "in" at the moment, I don't give a fuck, I like it, I'm not going to go out of my way to be different. I happen to like some of the stuff Hot Topic has. Not all of it, but some of it, yea. I like Invader Zim, and it's hard to find Invader Zim shirts anywhere but Hot Topic and stores like it. Sometimes I can find a good deal on some "grunge" wear there. Yes, I could make it myself, but when they are having a clearance sale on it I can get it there cheaper than I would pay for just the fucking materials ... especially the metal.

I do laugh at all the young "punks" in there just dying to be different and in the process just falling into yet another clique. But they don't bother me. When I was their age, I had to go out of my way to avoid fights just because I dressed like they do now and had my hair "funny" colors. Now it's just the cool thing to do. So what? I'm not going to quit doing it just because it came into style, it's what I like. I'm an original, I know it, and I don't give a shit if people who don't know me think I'm just some old man trying to be cool, I'm just being me.

Honestly, I don't care where a store is coming from, what their agenda or image is like. If I like a product, I'll buy it. Some people won't watch certain movies because the director is a perv, won't buy Starbucks because they're too corproate, won't buy from stores they think are posing or making money from stuff they shouldn't be or are hypocritical..etc.. and that's fine and okay. Whatever floats your boat. Do what you feel and more power to ya!
But for me, if I like a product, I buy it. Period and all else be damned. And where I live the other stores don't exactly carry stuff I like (Sears, Bon, egads Meyer & Frank--gag!!!) so if Hot Topic has something I like (often do), I buy it and all the pimply faced goth posers that are staring at me strange because I don't fit in, they can go fuck themselves. I'm not buying them, so they can fuck off!

Plus they have the cute 'Happy Bunny' pins. :lol:

Never cared for the place, untill they started selling Nintendo related items. Now I stop in there whenever I can to see what they have. I bought my brother a Legend of Zelda jacket and myself a pair of Mario wristbands. Hell yeah! 8)

Thats very overprices a normal black hoodie there is 20 to 30 bucks. i get my hoodies for like 10 bucks the most.

Why is it so expensive for pants like 50 bucks i'm not ggoing to waste my money on pants that i'm going to trip on while i'm wearing

there is a few things wrong with the store ... but that is where i get most of my clothes & jewelry. i rarely like clothes from anywhere else so i buy them from Hot Topic. don't get me wrong, if i like clothes from somewhere else, i'll buy them. like many said ... i buy what i like & thats the end of it.

i find the Hot Topic near me has very nice employees. they are always willing to talk about anything ... which is cool.
so all in all ... the store isn't that bad IMO.

Well, when I went to visit anoushka and jeff int he states, I checked it out in their local mall, in the mall itself the stuff was shitty. Nu metal tshirts and ugly runners.

Online though, they have some pretty neat shit! and replicas of uber gothic pieces of clothes for cheaper, such as the transmuter boots that sell over 200 on pennagelan dreams, and a pair of studded maryjanes I have been wearing 2 years.

They have some fairly priced "vinyl|" items as well.

So online hot topic is pretty cool, in store hot topic is just shitty.

By the way, excuse them for wanting to appeal to a major market demographic :roll: they are there to make money, right? They are not the problem, you seem to have a problem with the customers and quite frankly, I am sure even the staff goes home and makes fun of them :lol:

I hate the horrible, new "ghetto" stores that are coming out now, with sweat-shirts large enough to circumference Ricki Lake etc etc. That shit is far, far worse, solely because it is more "accepted".

I used to get dragged into that fucking store all the time...it's literally hard for me to stomach. Punk's pretty much dead, but that entire place basically just defiles it in ways I didn't think possible. Everything is disturbingly overpriced...at least 5 or 10 bucks more than you'd spend at a show or even on interpunk.com. Not to mention that every one I've been to has had the stink of greed wafting over everything the second I walked in...and the stink of greed is remarkably similar to the new car smell.

I find that the people who express such hate for this store do so because it mocks and capitalizes off the persona they are trying to obtain. Usually, this person shopped there once upon a time.

Furthermore, I don't see what's so damn wrong with a kid trying to be cool, and a store helping them along. Everyone tries to be cool at one point or another...and if you've convinced yourself you haven't, have some sympathy for those who have to put some effort and some $$ into it. :roll:

I am entitled to hate this store more than any of you. I worked in that hell hole for 6 months, and it is the most tedious job in the world. The customers are dicks, the storage sucks, planogram sucks, pay sucks, managers suck.

Examples:
1. Tried to get a promotion, DM wouldn't let me cause of my school hours. Like that has anything to do with me getting the raise/position I deserved for the work I did there.
2. They start ever employee that isn't a key holder at minimum wage. Even if they are on welfare, out of high school. They pay minimum wage (at least at my store).
3. The lie to the employees. The said I was going to get a 3-month review (standard at most companies), but it never came. 6 months rolled around and I finally got my review/raise. 30 cents. Fuck that, I deserved better pay and I now get the pay and recognition I deserve at Best Buy.

Fuck the entire Hot Topic chain. Buy your shit off of the internet, or better yet make your own. It'll look better than half of the shit that the company carries, believe me.

Yeah I've been lurking this board for quite sometime and it's become pretty obvious to me that he's a kid in his teens looking for some form of acceptance ( not that everyone doesn't go through that). The whole stance he seems to take is the one I took when I was younger that if it's not you or your friends than it's wrong is something I wish an older person would have told me to shove up my ass. So for the record, Hot Topic is there to make money but in the meantime they also provide a store for people who don't want to pay 19 dollars for a pair of socks and get pestered when walking around the store like they're there to shoplift. If it sucks so bad and is so anti-punk ask yourself why so many bands allow their merchandise to be sold there.

Hot Topic is no different than A&F, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Banana Republic, etc. They have a certain type of clothing that is meant for its target customer. What pisses me other is how stupid and ignorant Mallcore, goth kids are when they sit there and mock and make fun of the "jocks" and any other type of kliqs. They say "man those people are wasting there money on all those expensive clothes...yada yada." It like seeing people crap shit out of their mouths. They are the same as the people they hate shopping at a Hot Topic. They wear certain types of clothes that pertain to them, whether they are doing for some statement, or doing it to stand out of the crowd and be "different", along with there friends. To me they are no different to the people they make fun of. Like I once said to one of my goth friends. "Dude, I wouldn't mind wearing that stuff but the thing is.........its to expensive to be goth". Cost just as much to be that as being a prep or any other high school classification of rank. Its not that I don't like the store, I just don't like some of the ignorant customers they get.

They're pretty expensive and they just seem to be cashing in on the cliche' mallgoths/mallcore and basically every other prickish and ignorant high school stereotype mentioned in the previous posts (btw I don't judge people by there matter of appreance and such, but many of those kids are pricks really)

Yeah I am...Why be fake and put forth a different image than the one that is you?...Not just here...Anywhere...I'm the exact same way I am here in "real life"...Only with 1s and 0s...There is no need to be fake for anyone...Or anything...What does this being the net have to do with anything?...
I only have so much control of what people think of me here. Why would/should I bother? Its something I could not really help. EIther that or I never really cared to put a nice ^mature^ image of me. I mean...especially here of all places lol. Fuck you guys are ass-holes. I dont need to put up a image for nobody.
