ADMISSION TO AIT : YEAR 2008-09
Availability of Seats
1. For the FE courses commencing July/August, 240 seats are available at AIT (60 seats each in Mechanical Engineering. Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering and Information Technology).
Eligibility Criteria
2. The eligibility criteria for admission to AIT is given in detail in the Prospectus which is available in December every year. Brief outline is as below :-
(a) Candidate must be a ward of one of the following :-
(i) Serving Army Persons.
(ii) Serving medical officers of IN and IAF who have served in the Army for more than 10 yrs and are members of AOBF.
(iii) Retired Army pers who in receipt of regular pension, or former Army pers who retired after min service of 10 yrs.
(iv) Former Army pers who died during service/after retirement and family pension is granted.
(v) TA pers who have completed 10 yrs of embodied service.
(vi) DSC pers who are serving or retired with pension.
(b) War widow (in receipt of liberalized pension) and children in receipt of family pension (due to death of both parents) are also eligible.
(c) Details of eligibility of adopted/step children are as in the prospectus.
(d) Should have passed, or appeared for 10+2 exam, at the time of applying for admission to AIT. Minimum acceptable mark in PCM are 50%.
(e) Age of the candidate must be between 16 to 21 years on 01 Jul 2008.
(f) Must be an Indian citizen, or a PIO who obtains Indian citizenship before admission.
Entrance Examination
3. AIT admission is based on the merit of All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE). All applicants are therefore required to appear in AIEEE and also apply to AIT.

4. Candidate can apply for AIEEE 2008 either on the prescribed Application Form or make application 'Online'. Address for obtaining/sending complete Application Form and clarification, if any is as under :-

5. The All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE-2008) will be conducted on 27 Apr 2008. The sale of AIEEE Application Forms is expected to commence from 01 Dec 2007 and likely to be on sale till early Jan 2008. Further details may be obtained from AIEEE or their website www.aieee.nic.in.
6. The last date of receipt of forms at AIEEE is to be ascertained from their advertisements, web site or regional offices located in the states.
Note :- AIT does not sell/issue AIEEE Application Form nor indulges in any process of conduct of the said exam.

7. AIEEE Application Form should be filled before AIT Application Form. The AIEEE Roll No must be endorsed on the AIT Application Form before submitting it to AIT. Failure to do so would result in rendering the AIT Application Form null and void.
8. Admission notice to AIT will be published in selected national newspapers in the first week of Jan 2008. It will also be hosted on the AIT website www.aitpune.com.
Cost of AIT Application
9. Prospectus and Application Form can be obtained by hand or by post from AIT as well as from HQ Commands and Army HQ (AWES Branch). The Prospectus can also be downloaded from our website. Cost of Prospectus and Application form is as follows:-
(i) By Post :- Rs 650/- through bank Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, AIT payable at Pune.
(ii) By Hand :- Rs 600/- through bank Demand Draft drawn in favour of Director, AIT payable at Pune.
(iii) Down-loaded Forms:- Down-loaded Application Form should be accompanied with a bank Demand Draft for Rs 600/- drawn in favour of Director, AIT payable at Pune. The details of Bank Draft should be mentioned clearly in the Application Form.
10. AIT Application Form will be open for sale from 10th January 2008. Last date for submission of completed Application Form is 15 May 2008. There is no provision for late submission with any late fee.
11. Counseling at AIT, Pune, will be after one month from the date of declaration of AIEEE Results. Dates of counseling will be hosted on the AIT website www.aitpune.com.
In short
Filling up of AIEEE form and AIT Form is compulsory. Failing to fill up any one of the form will lead to rejection of admission to AIT.

After successfull submission of On-line Application Form, a Registration Number along with confirmation page will be generated.

Candidates are advised to take printout of confirmation page and paste his/her two recent photographs (as given in point 6 below), sign in the specified box and send this confirmation page along with Demand Draft by Registered/Speed Post (NOT BY COURIER) to " The Assistant Secretary (AIEEE Unit), Central Board of Secondary Education, PS 1-2, Institutional Area, IP Extension,Patparganj, Delhi 110 092" for further processing so as to reach latest by 10.01.2008. Application received beyond this date will not be accepted.

Photograph : Firmly affix two recent high contrast passport size preferably black & white photograph (taken on or after 1.9.2007) with gum/fevicol (not to be pinned or stapled) in the space provided for it in the Application Form one duly attested by the head of the institution where the candidate is studying/passed class XII or the Gazatted officer. The photograph must indicate clearly the name of the candidate along with the date of taking the photograph. It should be without cap or goggles. Spectacles are allowed. Polaroid photos are not acceptable. The photograph of the candidate should be attested by the Principal/Head of the Institution or Gazetted Officer in such a way that part of the signature is on the photograph and remaining part of the signature is on the application form. Attestation should be done on the bottom part of the photograph so that the photograph is not defaced. Candidates not complying with these instructions or with unclear photograph are liable to be rejected. Candidates may keep 6-8 identical photographs in reserve for use at the time of entrance examination/Counselling/Admission.

* to attach Demand Draft of required fee (In favour of “Secretary CBSE Delhi”, payable at Delhi).
* to mention his/her Registration No., Name, and Address on the back of the Demand Draft
* to retain a photocopy of confirmation page for future reference.
* to retain a photocopy of the Demand Draft sent.
* The processing of applications will begin only after receiving confirmation page and Demand Draft.
8. Date of Birth : Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1983 are eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PH candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1978 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate only will be taken as authentic.
Procedure for filling the Application Form
1. After reading the instructions and procedure, click at the bottom of this page " Click here to Proceed " to view the online Application Form.
2. At the end of the form, there is a "Submit Form" button. Click this button once only. It takes time for the computer to process the information. On pressing "Submit Form", the information you have provided shall be taken into our system. If any information is not provided by you, the system shall return the form to you, prompting you to fill in the same.
3. After successfull validation, an intermediate page containing all information will be shown for review. If you would like to change any information entered, you may do so by pressing 'BACK' button. After making necessary correction please press 'Submit' button for final submission.
