Southeastern/gulf coast Texas is The South. The rest is just Texas. That map you posted is irrelevant because it's got New Mexico and Oklahoma in blue, and Virginia and the Carolinas in green. BIG HOOSTON is in though, definitely.

There's no way that San Antonio or El Paso or even, ironically enough, Jefferson Davis County is part of the same region as Missisip and Virginia.
