Who's seen it? What a great movie! Really! Cleverest erection scene in film history! Maybe!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 5 October 2003 10:14 (twenty-two years ago)

It is actually quite good!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 5 October 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah you seemed to like it ok

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Sunday, 5 October 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not sure what else to say - I can't remember what the names were but I like the bit where on of them gets yelled at by guys in a car, so he picks up a rock or something, hiffs it at the car and breaks the window!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Sunday, 5 October 2003 10:29 (twenty-two years ago)

funny as hell, as i remember. it made my oamaru friends blush and giggle a lot. I LOVE DRAG QUEENSSSSSS!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Sunday, 5 October 2003 22:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I never rented this movie because it looked pretty stupid on the box. Maybe I'll rethink, though.

Livvie (Livvie), Monday, 6 October 2003 03:11 (twenty-two years ago)

you guys are insane, this movie is terrible!

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 6 October 2003 04:48 (twenty-two years ago)

but i don't want to knock it because i got to see it free and and i wrote a really bitchy review about it for my college paper, which was fun.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Monday, 6 October 2003 04:49 (twenty-two years ago)

I never said it wasn't stupid, did I?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 6 October 2003 10:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Well by "stupid" I really meant 'not enjoyable to watch'. You seemed to like it okay though.

Livvie Tapper (Livvie), Monday, 6 October 2003 18:41 (twenty-two years ago)

Woah, I didn't realise you used that exact same phrase upthread.

Livvie (Livvie), Monday, 6 October 2003 21:26 (twenty-two years ago)

i'm usually reluctant to say dumm shit like "its so bad its GOOD", but yeah, it truly was.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 6 October 2003 23:00 (twenty-two years ago)

It was cleverer than "Bring it On"

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 09:46 (twenty-two years ago)

how?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 19:49 (twenty-two years ago)

How did we know the black cheerleading team was poor, despite their nice uniforms and huge stadium?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 7 October 2003 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

umm cos its a hollywood movie. most movies require some suspension of disbelief. how did we know the sorority girls were feminist or pro-woman? they sure didn't act like it.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't think they were

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:23 (twenty-two years ago)

weren't they supposed to be?

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:23 (twenty-two years ago)

like they'd occasionally come out with some feminist slogan, but what i mean is that they were pretty inconsistent. anyway, i see them both as pretty dumm movies, and i'm not actively disagreeing with you so much as asking why you think it was cleverer.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:25 (twenty-two years ago)

I just didn't like the way it seemed that the main reason the audience'd have no problem taking that team as the poor underdog heroes was because they were black, which wasn't so much dumb as offensive. Yeah, they're both very stupid movies, of course. The sorority boys obv didn't end up as great feminist crusdaders, but it was cute how they all ended up being much nicer people. "Do you swear to uphold the traditions of KOK house?" "No"

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:33 (twenty-two years ago)

i meant the actual sorority females, not the impersonators. weren't the black cheerleading team from like compton or something? i figured that was how we were supposed to know they were poor.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh them, I don't know. The main one was pretty into it, weren't most of the rest in that house by default? Compton sounds right, yeah. It would've been nice if there'd been some visual signs of comparative poverty, but then these movies are practically cartoons

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 00:52 (twenty-two years ago)

as i said to di, i'd probably have liked it more if i'd seen it with friends i could make fun of it with and if i hadn't been surrounded by a bunch of 12-year-olds who laughed like hyenas at every goddam sex reference in the whole stupid movie. it's not like i hate dumb teen movies or anything - usually i LOVE them.

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 01:19 (twenty-two years ago)

The funniest (as in stupid) bit of Bring it On is when the guy makes that head cheerleader a tape with a song he's supposedly recorded in his bedroom and it's all really professional sounding with backup singers and drums and everything! He was only meant to have an electric guitar!
What was funny (also as in stupid) in Sorority Boys was the teen-movie idea of women's studies where it's a big shock if a guy enters the room. Maybe it's different in America.
I like em both, but I found SBs way funnier. Who likes Clueless?

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah and sports uniforms are hella expensive, especially when they've got yr team name on them too! At my high school it was a big deal to get our monogram on a polo shirt and we weren't THAT poor. Hardly anyone bought em too, haha.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 8 October 2003 22:58 (twenty-two years ago)

i will rent this next time i'm at blockbuster
