I don't know if I've ever heard them

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 09:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Surely you have done without realising it.

Damian (Damian), Thursday, 23 October 2003 10:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah, I must've really. Maybe someone can try and tell me how 'Africa' goes. I'm trying to write that Eno essay btw, it's kind of frustrating.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 10:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess the rain's down in Africa, gonna take some time to do the things we never haaaaaaoooo. Or something. Di can sing it better than me :).

Interestingly enough, the soundtrack to the film Dune was recorded by Toto, and the one non-Toto track on the album was by one Brian Eno.

Damian (Damian), Thursday, 23 October 2003 10:35 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sure you've heard them. I thought I hadn't a while back then I realise they'd been on New World radio heaps.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 23 October 2003 10:39 (twenty-one years ago)

I read that as "the film Duane"

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 11:24 (twenty-one years ago)

What Eno track, btw? I'm getting completist twinges. I must forward him my dumb essay, too.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 14:09 (twenty-one years ago)

b-b-but that little dog was so annoying!

Justyn Dillingham (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 23 October 2003 14:36 (twenty-one years ago)

But shit he was a pretty impressive musician, for a dog

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

And he played everything himself!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 23 October 2003 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i doubt i could improve on damian's rendition of africa. he also knows the words, which is more than you can say for me. i can't even figure out what its about, but when i was a kid it used to freak me out cos the dude sounds so pained in the chorus. especially when he starts flailing about at the end. man i have to listen to it again now.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 23 October 2003 21:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Andrew - the Eno song is called Prophecy Theme. In fact I have a feeling it's not an Eno song so much as one of those Brian Eno/Daniel Lanois/Roger Eno-type dealies in the style of the Apollo soundtracks, which would rule.

Damian (Damian), Friday, 24 October 2003 00:29 (twenty-one years ago)

calstars, Saturday, 11 September 2021 22:07 (three years ago)

Toto seems like the perfect band to play Six Flags Over Mid-America

Spikevax, the beloved entertainer (Lee626), Saturday, 11 September 2021 23:21 (three years ago)

I had started writing a play years ago about a guy who got so angry about hearing Toto that he would immediately beat up the person who put them on (i.e. if someone put them on the jukebox).

never got past the first page.

Duke Detain (Neanderthal), Saturday, 11 September 2021 23:22 (three years ago)

nothing short of toto war

Toto released “99” as a single on this day in 1979. Written as a tribute to the George Lucas science fiction film “THX 1138”, the song reached #26 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March, 1980. It was the only single from “Hydra” to chart. pic.twitter.com/sywUh1lzDF

calstars, Sunday, 3 October 2021 01:04 (three years ago)

I don't enjoy any of Toto's music. I just don't.

longtime caller, first time listener (man alive), Sunday, 3 October 2021 02:52 (three years ago)

I haven't heard "99" in the wild or on radio since it was a hit
