Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 12:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Aww don't be so hard on yrself mate

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 12:38 (twenty-two years ago)

words that make me foam at the mouth: genius (whether used as a self-conscious exxaggeration or not), hysterical, gender maneuvring (thanks to the annoying book i just read).

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 23 March 2004 23:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Inimitable. Try dropping that one into conversation sometime.

Minty (Minty), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 00:01 (twenty-two years ago)

multicollinearity

i second inimitable. inimitability is even worse.

I hate how many young people these days say "yeah yeah yeah yeah" in response to what someone else is saying. It comes across like "Yes! Now shut up, look I'M talking"...it sounds rude...and since it's common I hate that they probably picked it up from other people without even paying atention. Same goes for saying "random"; also to a lesser degree I cannot cope with the common occurence of using "try and" when "try to" is much better: stop this gratuitous use of "and"!

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 02:11 (twenty-two years ago)

ew I've noticed that "yeah yeah yeah" one - its like they are sooo on the same wave they dont need to speak at all just text. "random" just sounds stuu-pid and clueless like your drifting in this crazy crazy world. I hate the word "panties" since that nasty cocktail movie. Also I've been saying "like" to much since i was a teen and now its to late to stop.

ducklingmonster (ducklingmonster), Wednesday, 24 March 2004 23:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate "panties" and don't think I could shake "like" either

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Thursday, 25 March 2004 02:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm also a "like" victim, especially when drunk. I hate it cos it makes me sound like, y'know, whatever.

Minty (Minty), Thursday, 25 March 2004 02:57 (twenty-two years ago)

"Reality" , especially when "television" follows. *insert old fart voice* in my day we watched the television to get away from reality!

regards,

REB

Rik E Boy (Rik E Boy), Thursday, 25 March 2004 04:13 (twenty-two years ago)

"Panties" is dreadful. I don't mind "like", plus I think most of the situations I use it in are either appropriate or it's deliberate for emphasis. I say "yeah yeah yeah" sometimes, sorry. "Random" is annoying cause it's a good word in certain situations but it's SO overused I hesitate to say it at all. I THINK the point of this thread has been misunderstood a bit though, it's more about words you consistently spell incorrectly. In which case, I always write "dehabilitating" instead of "debilitating" and it was only pointed out to me as wrong a few days ago. Hahaha this is my longest message in AGES and it's all about SPELLING.

Livvie (Livvie), Thursday, 25 March 2004 05:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Jackass! Second time I ever used that insult, I'm saving it for when you say "dehabilitating"

Andrew Andrewsonn, Thursday, 25 March 2004 06:26 (twenty-two years ago)

I still like "incredibally" so much more, I hate English

Aannddrreeww, Thursday, 25 March 2004 06:28 (twenty-two years ago)

jackass is my favourite insult, but i pronounce it "jackarse"

the surface noise (electricsound), Thursday, 25 March 2004 07:58 (twenty-two years ago)

words like objectivity, reason, logic and such annoy me as much as the word "hysterical" does. panties is horrible but funny when rainy says it. i can't stop the "like" thing either. do i do that "yeah yeah yeah" thing? god i hope not, it sounds rude.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 25 March 2004 08:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey! Reason and logic are my pals. Objectivity's pretty over-rated, tho.
Hermeneutic, paradigm, posthuman - now there's some annoying suckers.

Minty (Minty), Saturday, 27 March 2004 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

yes! paradigm!!!!!! arrggggh! discourse! connectivity!

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Saturday, 27 March 2004 22:27 (twenty-two years ago)

fungible

the surface noise (electricsound), Sunday, 28 March 2004 04:44 (twenty-two years ago)

people who refer to their significant other as "the wife" or (even worse) "the hubby" make me think outlawing marriage is a great idea.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Sunday, 28 March 2004 07:31 (twenty-two years ago)

I have to admit I think "the missus" and "my old lady" are pretty choice.

Minty (Minty), Sunday, 28 March 2004 22:53 (twenty-two years ago)

ha you would.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Monday, 29 March 2004 04:07 (twenty-two years ago)

nestle, sounds gross. Pacifically instead of specifically... there are a few others I can't think of off hand, I'll post when I hear them next mispronounced.

I wonjder if my saying et instead of ate pisses people off? Well I am right too and I am not going to stop hahahahaha

Menelaus Darcy (Menelaus Darcy), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:22 (twenty-two years ago)

"it's all good"
does this happen other places than nz (and oz?) - is it the updated "she'll be right mate"?
I like "et" keep it up MD!

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 00:49 (twenty-two years ago)

"its all good" is an americanism. some rapper had a song of that title a long time ago, and i guess it caught on.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 30 March 2004 06:38 (twenty-two years ago)

"So" before anything other than an adjective or an adverb.

"Like" between commas.

I could go on, but my cortisol is, like, so going up.
