Suicide Rehearsal Tapes, loud

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 1 October 2004 05:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I've been listening to so much NZ music tonight and most of it was soooooo sad. Weeping, kind of thing. I was making a comp for someone who didn't seem to know any/much music from here. TKP/alastair/demarnia's trace/verlaines "dirge" and "hanging by strands"/jay clarkson's wheeling "hold the skeletons, hold them fast....licking scratches, licking wounds" /pumice - pumiceraft/cakekitchen - airships/g jefferies - all the colours run dry/ etcetera, oh aren't we dark and lonely over here with the birds

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:43 (twenty-one years ago)

what's that daryl hall "sacred songs" like livvie? it's hard to find out without getting buried in mr fripps fans

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:46 (twenty-one years ago)

not that I dislike robert fripp

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

does anyone here like (late) swans
it's good sacred pagan music. Worshipful/wallowing mud/sun
and alastair g also always of course makes me feel like a living and dying being

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Friday, 1 October 2004 12:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Well I'm a fan of "Mr Fripp" for sure, sorry. The record is kinda ODD; it has some really really great songs but I don't think it goes together very well as an ALBUM, no continuity or overriding MOOD or anything. SOME PEOPLE, of course, fervently disagree with that. Also I dunno is continuity even really that important? Otherwise makes me uneasy, I think.

Livvie (Livvie), Friday, 1 October 2004 13:25 (twenty-one years ago)

Futurians "Subway Songs" which I kinda forgot DMonster gave me, oh well sorry, it's good

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 14 January 2005 05:27 (twenty years ago)

little richard - 18 greatest hits. i don't think i've listened to this all the way through in at least 6 years. it sounded pretty fucking awesome in the car today, but then i've discovered that nearly everything sounds better when you're driving. i even liked a LED ZEPPELIN song i heard in the car today, for god's sake.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 14 January 2005 06:30 (twenty years ago)

sad thing about listening to a little richard hits compilation - there's only 18 of them, and you sort of wish it would just go on forever, because everything else sounds sorta tame afterward.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 14 January 2005 06:31 (twenty years ago)

LED ZEPPELIN aside

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 14 January 2005 06:52 (twenty years ago)

haha

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 14 January 2005 08:54 (twenty years ago)

He's not joking

Livvie (Livvie), Friday, 14 January 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

I was actually

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 14 January 2005 12:33 (twenty years ago)

Well I wouldn't have been, Led Zeppelin is a serious subject.

Livvie (Livvie), Friday, 14 January 2005 12:47 (twenty years ago)

I know but it is best to let the unenlightened find their own path to Led Zeppelin

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 14 January 2005 12:51 (twenty years ago)

Heathens.

Livvie (Livvie), Friday, 14 January 2005 12:55 (twenty years ago)

me and my relos and their friends have been dancing to the bee gees tonight.

di, Sunday, 6 February 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

Big Star - "Give Me Another Chance"
Chris Bell's voice kind of gives me the shits, but that's beside the point as he doesn't sing lead on this song, which coincidentally has mellotron.

Deluxe (Damian), Monday, 7 February 2005 09:43 (twenty years ago)

I been listening to all this stuff to prepare for a Japanese pop music show I'm doing on Sunday. Suggestions, anyone?

Minty (Minty), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 04:25 (twenty years ago)

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 February 2005 12:34 (twenty years ago)

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

Never heard of 'em. I'll have a look tho. At the moment I'm listening to a fantastic song by Morning Musume called "Yes! Pocky Girls!"

Minty (Minty), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 04:27 (twenty years ago)

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

prolly gonna road-trip south to see ghost club (despite mitchell being a bit of a bust last time and the whole strange blindness rumours)

chris andrews (fraew), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 21:44 (twenty years ago)

Hey Liz, reason I haven't got back to you with my address is I still don't have one! Argh.
Yeah that's fricken great news about the Ghost Club. The blindness thing was a mix-up at a London optometrists, but means he's legally blind in the UK.

Minty (Minty), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 22:29 (twenty years ago)

legally blind in the UK
my mind immediately sings this to me to the tune of "anarchy in the UK"

mitchell being a bit of a bust last time
Please tell more? (I didn't see him)

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Wednesday, 16 February 2005 23:21 (twenty years ago)

he was hopped out and aggressive (i think his son said something about mescaline..), ended up smashing both his guitars after a set of mostly unmusical noise. it was ok, but not really what i was anticipating, especially since he was backed up by alastair galbraith and brian crook

chris andrews (fraew), Thursday, 17 February 2005 00:53 (twenty years ago)

thanks duane now i've got that nelly/xtina song in my head "he's right you know. he's right. she's right you know. she's right. etc etc"

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Thursday, 17 February 2005 01:58 (twenty years ago)

DOOrag (doorag), Friday, 18 February 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

despite being legally blind

DOOrag (doorag), Friday, 18 February 2005 10:53 (twenty years ago)

btw have you ever wondered how ray charles would find a vein when he was using dope, it's a question that has often bothered me

future homos plc (doorag), Friday, 18 February 2005 10:56 (twenty years ago)

I heard he got his roadies or PAs or whoever to do it for him, or I presumed he did. Or his girlf maybe. I'm listening to King Tubby's second Lp, it's good. "Dub from the Roots".

A Viking of Some Note (Andrew Thames), Friday, 18 February 2005 13:39 (twenty years ago)

Minty (Minty), Saturday, 26 February 2005 04:20 (twenty years ago)

two weeks pass...
Velvet Underground - "The Murder Mystery"
I never realised how much it sounds like Pink Floyd. Circa 1968 anyway.

Deluxe (Damian), Sunday, 13 March 2005 09:29 (twenty years ago)

Steve Hillage - "Four Ever Rainbow" from Rainbow Dome Musick. I think Andrew, a Viking of some note, should listen to this record or hunt it down, being as it is quite similar to Ashra's New Age Of Earth.

Deluxe (Damian), Monday, 14 March 2005 10:47 (twenty years ago)

I. Just. Can't Believe.
All. The. Things. People Say.
