di and i are sitting on my couch watching it and becoming infuriated at the returns AND the obvious conservative bent of certain newscasters.

Biggest R. win since '88 or sometime says someone on some show, nice

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 13:01 (twenty years ago)

I thought this was gonna happen (not this strongly) but I still can't quite believe, kinda, that there're this many people so into what's happening.

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 13:39 (twenty years ago)

i had so much hope yesterday, ARGGGGGH.

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 18:45 (twenty years ago)

at least people (esp/at least americans) are more likely to protest/be against war-mongering done under/by Republican than war-mongering done under/by Democrat

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 22:14 (twenty years ago)

Ahem...
George W. Bush will be re-elected, whether or not Iraq sorts itself out, whether or not the US economy collapses and vomits up its own intestines, and whether or not he's got Osama squirrelled away somewhere as an eleventh-hour trump card. I've said it once, I'll say it again: democracy just doesn't work.

Man I hate being right all the time.

Minty (Minty), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 22:51 (twenty years ago)

yeah, we all know how effective protests are when there's a republican in office.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Wednesday, 3 November 2004 23:19 (twenty years ago)

Or ever are

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 4 November 2004 01:55 (twenty years ago)

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Thursday, 4 November 2004 02:12 (twenty years ago)

yeah, we all know how effective protests are when there's a republican in office.

viet nam?

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Friday, 5 November 2004 04:34 (twenty years ago)

there were more and larger protests during nixon's term than lbj's, but they had pretty much zero impact on the decision to end the war (which came three years into nixon's first term); it only happened after the public (who basically regarded all protesters as flag-burning kooks) started to turn against it.

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Friday, 5 November 2004 10:32 (twenty years ago)

And they'd been losing the war/lives a bit long for it to be worth the candle

Andrew Blood Thames (Andrew Thames), Friday, 5 November 2004 12:03 (twenty years ago)
