It's kind of beautiful, kind of depressing.

I've worked in a cafe, another cafe, Walnut Cottage, and the Beachcomber Motel.

Well, it's kind of endearingly silly... me and Elisabeth noticed how we'd been referring to the shops as "town" when we lived there, and how silly that seemed now we were in an "actual" town so much... the teenagers are great. Hey, let's WALK AROUND tonight!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Wednesday, 4 December 2002 11:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Walk around and shout a bit! McDonalds is the only place open past 12 and that's only on a Friday night. Even the Starmart closes before 10pm.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Thursday, 5 December 2002 01:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course, there's also Emergency File...

"MAN DESCRIBED" A man was seen outside the Orewa library attacking a palm tree.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 6 December 2002 01:31 (twenty-two years ago)

The Lady Ms Lurex (lucylurex), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 11:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Walk around? That sounds like Rangiora! Why walk when you can SIT?

Livvie (Livvie), Tuesday, 6 January 2004 23:09 (twenty-one years ago)

Hey I think the Beachcomber was near us. Anyway, I reckon everyone should visit Orewa. It's nice and flat and we're gonna skateboard there sometime.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Wednesday, 7 January 2004 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

I caught a bus there one night when I was young and distressed and stood in a phonebox on the phone for hours until a cop came along and told me I shouldn't be out on my own by the highway in the middle of the night so I spent the rest of the night on the beach, I saw a hedgehog, I was going to run away up north or something but I just caught a bus back to Auckland the next day. So, Orewa, yes depressing!

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Thursday, 8 January 2004 00:44 (twenty-one years ago)

big ups the orewa mobil/starmart, i got a pickle'n'cheese sandwich + a yoghurt-to-go drink thing there on the way to waaarkworth while bouncin' round in the back of a van.

etc, Friday, 9 January 2004 14:58 (twenty-one years ago)

four months pass...
Yeah people SIT outside the library and the supermarket and try to look scary/as if they're enjoying themselves a lot. Teenagers, anyway. Old people do much the same thing but leave out trying to look scary.

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Monday, 24 May 2004 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

well things've certainly changed for Orewa signification since this thread began

cuspidorian (cuspidorian), Friday, 28 May 2004 09:17 (twenty-one years ago)

It has a large hideous apartment building crudely modelled after a ship now. It sucks quite appallingly, tho it has a nice fountain level just above the lower floors

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 28 May 2004 12:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Comparatively nice

Mr Mime (Andrew Thames), Friday, 28 May 2004 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

Have you been in there?? I want in.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Friday, 28 May 2004 19:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Let's do it next time we're there, we can pose as potential investors
