Very bad footage of a semi-poorly attempted show, but I definitely had the most fun I've ever had at this one. We're definitely improving. There's quite a bit of improvised stuff going on here

I've posted a lot of these tracks already on this thread but I feel like I'm moving away from doing the loop/sample-based music I've been working on for the past couple of years and shifting back to guitar-based stuff so to put a cap on an era I made a soundcloud playlist of my favorites - https://soundcloud.com/scarequotes-1/sets/nobodies-do-it-better

haha, i had some deja vu while i was posting that, which is why i included the caveat.

festival culture (Jordan), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 21:43 (eleven years ago) link

Yeah I'm happy with that direction where I was using loops and samples but also doing some more live guitar and bass on top of it. I think if I want to keep doing stuff I like that I need to figure out how to do some more "songwriting" with it; i.e. having more structure and direction and variation.

Immediate Follower (NA), Tuesday, 5 November 2013 21:49 (eleven years ago) link

new song, album is out next week, featuring amazing vocals by someone who i first heard on THIS VERY THREAD (i think): http://thump.vice.com/words/download-chants---ru4real-feat-ramzi-awn

Hello all. Wondering if I might be able to get some feedback on this - particularly the mixing/mastering? The drums were recorded in a studio albeit on a slightly schonky drumkit. The rest was done in my room, mostly DI'd and then mixed in Reason 7.

https://soundcloud.com/doglatin/handle2-0demo

I'm def gonna re-record some of the backing vocals cos they're out, but I wanna make the best of the admittedly limited source material I have at hand. A friend with experience said there was an abundance of low-end, although I'm having a bit of trouble hearing it. I'm also having difficulty making the snare sound good. Any other tips/feedback anyone can offer here?

Pingu Unchained (dog latin), Tuesday, 12 November 2013 21:24 (eleven years ago) link

low end is a little uneven but doesn't sound absurd. the drums are a bit muffled, but overall the balance seems fine to me

Noise Joint is wild. I love all the fast cuts. totally groovy throughout.

I feel like we am almost ready to start sending some demos out to various labels, but I still have some doubts. If you have a listen to our newest song, please let me know if you think a dance label would like to find it in their inbox ;)

My bestest bud J and I had been working on this cover for what seems like freaking forever: after it took him ages to bed down the music, I then remained unhappy with my vocal takes for MONTHS every time I tried.

The other night, with fading laryngitis voice, I thought I'd give it a huskier take for lolz. And it ended up sounding really good.
