haven't posted here in a while, got a blue yeti usb mic and been doing some stuff that's multiple layers of acoustic guitar patterns in audacity

'Johnny Showbiz'

All that self-sacrifice, judgement, self-pity! I’d say it’s (snoball), Sunday, 15 December 2013 18:24 (eleven years ago)

My band, who I love, sometimes sounds like Porcupine Tree, sometimes sounds like Dead Can Dance or Siouxise...and sometimes we're a blatant Cocteau twins ripoff, like this little demo bit right here:

I'm liking this a lot Trayce, great voice especially.

This week, in Trayce is sad and writes ballads to get over it:

sounds good btw

Haha! (shut up baby I know it remix)

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Wednesday, 8 January 2014 08:52 (eleven years ago)

Fadeout on that one is way way too long, and as always I havegotta stop fucking only writing 2 verses then giving up. I dont know why I keep doing that. Lazy I guess.

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Wednesday, 8 January 2014 08:52 (eleven years ago)

Trayce, thats v pretty.

Dog Latin, I notice I can sing Spirit of Radio along with your song.

29 facepalms, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 11:39 (eleven years ago)

heh, i don't know that song - i'll give it a listen at lunch.

An embarrassing doorman and garbage man (dog latin), Wednesday, 8 January 2014 11:41 (eleven years ago)

You're in for a real treat.

29 facepalms, Wednesday, 8 January 2014 11:45 (eleven years ago)

that's really nice Trayce, what did you use to make it?

I was playing around earlier and decided to record the loop I'd done, then I took half an hour looking for the right cables (and failed, dodgy recording instead) while it looped over and over, driving me mental. Now you can be driven mental too (with some noodling in the second half): https://soundcloud.com/eeeeeein/skzu

Merdeyeux, Friday, 10 January 2014 00:37 (eleven years ago)

Thanks guys! I used FLStudio for the synths - mostly with the Sytrus plugin - but theres also bass that I (rather clumsily) played myself, plus my vocals.

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Friday, 10 January 2014 14:16 (eleven years ago)

...oh, YOU are eeeeein! I did wonder which ILXor that was heh :D

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Friday, 10 January 2014 14:18 (eleven years ago)

(I've probably said this before, I'm senile)

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Friday, 10 January 2014 14:18 (eleven years ago)

maybe! it is quite difficult. my apologies to all the people on twitter i followed because they're ilxors but whose ilx identity i've since forgotten.

The Weeklybeats site (anyone else having a go?) has really helped kick me into gear.

Behold my admittedly rather blatant Eno/Budd rip.

Here's what happens when you've got a practice room and a bit of time to kill. A three minute pop song with a twenty-minute improvisation in the middle of it https://soundcloud.com/discozhivago/pistols-in-the-sun-special

Seriously, this is how we write 90% of our songs though...

sloppy and aimless noodling over a drone but i quite like it for some reason.

Merdeyeux, Thursday, 6 February 2014 00:38 (eleven years ago)

Sat up very very late on Friday night working on this, at great expense (oh lord the hangover). Friend added some drums cos mine sucked. It came out pretty damn good. Cocteausy.

i stumbled across a folder of recordings i made between 2003 and 2008, occasionally interesting often boring, quite curious as to what 20-year-old me was trying to do on this inscrutable rhythm experiment https://soundcloud.com/eeeeeein/when-yr-256-11-06-2005

Meant to say so earlier but I really love that one Sash!

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Friday, 7 March 2014 04:07 (eleven years ago)

I've been channeling some sort of moosh of Siouxsie and Savages with this thing that I did. I like the drums I programmed. Its been fun singing in my natural loweer register again too.

yeah! sounds good. I like the creepy synth chords.

death and darkness and other night kinda shit (crüt), Friday, 7 March 2014 17:16 (eleven years ago)

Thanks! :) Yah I had that sort of slightly goth 80s new wave thing in mind, I suppose. Sytrus has some really nice synth pads built in (which is what I use for most of my synth work at the moment - nice FLStudio plugin).

the Bronski Review (Trayce), Friday, 7 March 2014 23:34 (eleven years ago)

https://soundcloud.com/earlnash/garden-of-delights

This is a mash of some old electronic tracks I made back around 2001-2003. I always seemed to get caught in a box on my tracks and couldn't get them to change, so I would end up with all of these fragments.

earlnash, Monday, 17 March 2014 04:14 (eleven years ago)

best bit of 'walkabout' cover is that i always thought the original could've gone another minute longer. now our versh does!

perfect putzy (haitch), Monday, 17 March 2014 04:35 (eleven years ago)

got a Blue Nessie mic and been doing some recording when the mood strikes me.

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/4a8k4qv94ax0xoz/Ehh_-_Nothingman.mp3 <------- two take version of Pearl Jam's "Nothingman", recorded on a day when I was feeling particularly emo

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/6vac7m124m193p9/Ehh_-_End_Of.mp3 <------ acapella first verse and chorus of Boyz II Men's "End of the Road". never finished because it took so long just to get this much done, but perhaps some day.

first playing session in a couple of months, ages spent fiddling around heading nowhere but i think i ended up somewhere 'nice' if maybe unexciting. (also some volume problems messed up the recording a bit, bah.)
