here's something recent from my band -- just a rough iphone recording... hoping to do something real in the new year!

high quality jam! you're fortunate to have jovial people near you to jam with. sounds like a good time!!

vigetable (La Lechera), Thursday, 11 December 2014 13:58 (ten years ago)

i made the beat for this rap song.

i wish i had gotten to have a hand in the vocal mix...on the one hand it was nice not to have to worry about it, and the engineer did a great job punching up my 808s, but i feel like it's overly busy. i would have taken the chopped vocal samples out of my beat and argued for less backing vox during the verses, but whatevs.

i think they were saying the beat reminded them of baths, although it's nice like taking a bath too! :)

great job jordan

Opening track sounded like something from The Goon Show. I half expected Peter Sellers to say something like "Ach! No more high fibre diet!".

just like Nietzsche but with jokes (snoball), Wednesday, 17 December 2014 21:01 (ten years ago)

haha, it's entirely improvised - just one take and one mic with no script. there are some pretty absurd moments on there

Put it on youtube now too Disco Zhivago Great Artery (Full Album): http://youtu.be/CCQerl-kPuU

I finished this song last week but haven't officially released it yet.

For anyone curious I used a Bass Station II, u-he Diva, TAL U-NO-LX, and Matrix 6 for synths (these and guitar through a Strymon El Capistan), and an MXL V67G for vocals.

earlnash, Tuesday, 10 February 2015 02:28 (ten years ago)

made this little dancey song with a bobbie gentry sample, a drum machine and some keyboards. i don't usually do dancey stuff like this so i really have no idea what i'm doing.

Heez, Tuesday, 10 February 2015 02:54 (ten years ago)

so i took the above song and added samples of a woman reading coupons on the radio that i taped a long time ago. it's now bizarrely hilarious.

We've got a new song up. A quasi-metal tune called 'The Art Of Breathing'. We were going to make a proper video for it but ran out of editing time. Oh well. Would love to know what you all think.

that's a v cool track, heez.

after a few super busy months of doing very little music (and with a few more ahead) the other day i dusted everything off for a quick attempt at some kind of grouper ripoff, which turned into something a bit more grotesque

had a couple remixes come out btw:

https://soundcloud.com/do-the-astral-plane/michael-brailey-2-lovers-chants-remix

https://soundcloud.com/do-the-astral-plane/premiere-hudson-alexander-so-many-things-chants-remix

i did them months apart and ended up using the same sample (a door slamming in the parking garage at work) to reinforce the kick drum in both, then they came out the same day. so embarrassing.

lil urbane (Jordan), Friday, 10 July 2015 19:53 (ten years ago)

you have a signature kick drum sound now!

I Am Curious (Dolezal) (DJP), Friday, 10 July 2015 20:24 (ten years ago)

ha, i'm definitely waaay more ok with re-using patches and samples than i used to be.

Fake Fictions reunion! sounds cool, i don't know where you guys found the time.

Ha it literally took us six months to record that 13 minutes of music (though a big chunk of that was dead time from me working on other things and kind of forgetting about it for a while). The stuff that ended up on the EP was not part of a focused plan, it was just as we were finishing up it we said "hey we should have a band again." So we'll see what it actually means to "have a new band" when we have four kids between us and have to get a babysitter and travel to the suburbs to practice.

guess you'll have to substitute "internet hype tactics" for "playing shows". that's what i do anyway.
