I think I've heard the American Altitude before, actually, but it's sounding good. I'm pretty sure I'll pull it out some more.

Hi! I'm twice-coloured! (Sund4r), Friday, 8 April 2016 23:01 (nine years ago)

thanks man, really appreciate it. knowing that one person whose taste i'm familiar with likes something is way better than a bunch of rando plays (not to sound ungrateful about the premiere, because it's exciting, it's just hard to know what any of it 'means' or get too wrapped up in it).

sam jax sax jam (Jordan), Friday, 8 April 2016 23:37 (nine years ago)

i made this for a friends remix album: https://jasonamullinax.bandcamp.com/track/shadows-reappear

the albums actually really cool if you dig experimental ambient/electronic stuff

Uploaded a couple of older prepared guitar pieces. I'd been reluctant because I was concerned about the sound but decided to go ahead.

This is a recording from my freshman year in college. I post it because the baritone soloist is a man named Scott Auby, who at the time was a 2nd year law student. Scott has been battling a brain tumor over the past year and is currently in a coma with little hope of recovery. His family is saying their goodbyes and those of us who knew him are sharing recordings of him. He was a fantastic singer and an even better person; he will be missed.

worked out how to do these cool epic filter sweeps while I was mucking about one day and made this sort of acid-fried deep house track

i dont know where to put this but:
CRUT, i have "music for dark rooms" on my music computer and my 3 year old son is obsessed with daft punk and kraftwerk and robot music right now. so i played him "brand new toy" and :boys go to jupiter" and he was fucking JAMMING and he now requests them by name. so THANKS 4 THE IMPORTANT CHILDHOOD MEMORIES. :D

I'd gotten so used to working on my laptop that I forgot that I'm in charge of a studio now and have access to studio monitors. Things went a lot faster at that point.

I have a remixed version of my last EP out, with some pretty insane work from others + one from me. At first I didn't know if remixing my own track would work out, because you hopefully use all your best ideas the first time, right? But that turned out to not be the case at all, it felt more like correcting my mistakes. It would be interesting to have the time and confidence to do that with every record, just set it aside for six months and then come back and dispassionately carve it up like it was someone else's work.

After several years, Forces At Work finally got our act together and recorded some songs. It’s rock music. I was thinking of bands like The Clean, The Go-Betweens, The Feelies, The Soft Boys, and Guided By Voices when writing this stuff, but who knows what it actually sounds like. You tell me!

I really like "River of Myriad Beauties". It reminds me of the Police in an oblique way!

I was digging around for classical music to play at my kids and stumbled across this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UKmYPi9weM

I'm singing in the bass section and my wife is singing in the soprano section. Also I love this piece to death and could probably sing it from memory.

ornate orchestral arrangements (DJP), Monday, 6 February 2017 17:32 (eight years ago)

oh man, i love that copland, must be fun to sing.
and thanks for checking out forces at work, dudes! haven't really put much out in the world in a while, but it's nice to share this ...

tylerw, Monday, 6 February 2017 20:36 (eight years ago)

I enjoyed the whole EP.

My Body's Made of Crushed Little Evening Stars (Sund4r), Monday, 6 February 2017 22:06 (eight years ago)

nice Dan. can you pick yourself out when listening back, or do you know that you're doing a good job because you can't? it's been so long since i played in a section of anything.

change display name (Jordan), Tuesday, 7 February 2017 15:19 (eight years ago)

In that group, I could pretty much never pick out my voice in the section, partially because I try my hardest to blend, partially because the group was large (I think there were 80 ppl singing "In The Beginning"?), mostly because most of the other people had better vocal technique than me and could blow the roof off if they wanted to.

I can totally hear several individual tenors though, including one of my friends; also there are a couple of times where I hear my wife in the soprano section.
