Also Canadian new music publication Musicworks included a live recording I did last year on a playlist of Canadian guitar/electronics music. Studio version should be out soon: https://soundcloud.com/musicworks-magazine/sets/canadian-guitar-electronics

paolo I'm always in awe of your drum sounds
― boxedjoy, Tuesday, 27 October 2020 15:15 (three years ago) link
Thanks! I don't think I'm doing anything particularly original with them, unless I've somehow stumbled across some perfect combination of effects in Ableton. I'm less picky about them than I used to be - obviously there's thousands of drum samples in Ableton and I used to spend ages going through them to get the perfect kick or whatever, now I just listen to a few and go 'eh, that'll do'.

Thanks! It was partly inspired by an offhand comment you made once about how I should do something for processed guitar + percussion.

A few new ideas I'm messing around with:
1) Heavily Neil Young-influenced riff: https://www.instagram.com/p/CIR9YX1hau7/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
2) Arpeggiated thing with Fender Pinwheel (lesley emulator): https://www.instagram.com/p/CIXFuccBtG0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
3) Drone thing also with Fender Pinwheel: https://www.instagram.com/p/CIXJzGHBxb8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

I've praised Sund4r's piece through other channels but I'd like to reiterate that it rules.
Haven't heard everyone else's stuff yet.

Oh, wow, thanks. Tbh, it had been long enough since I made it that when I came back to it now, it sounded a bit foreign and I wasn't even totally sure it worked anymore. It's actually very affirming to hear that people are enjoying it! I'm planning for a limited physical release of the album in January at this point.

Sund4r, always engaging and good. Thank you for sharing.
man alive, we can see your videos, but there's no sound? I tried clicking the unmute speaker, but that makes it go haywire.
Junior recorded a new thing last night and I think it's really good.

realized i should have posted this here instead of the other thread. i recorded the loops & the rest live in my basement, no overdubs or other people involved :)
I have been working on doing solo stuff all year (what other choice?!) and finally recorded what I consider the best sounding version of this improvised solo percussion jam. I recorded another one that is similar but this one turned out groovier so I am sharing this one. (description: instrumental solo improvisation with various small percussion and drumset)
