You, sir, are a golden god.

five years pass...

Revive!! I was just trawling the archives of Synapse again for something I'm writing, and thinking that ILM must have a thread about it. (And of course, Dan started it.) I just remembered that I wrote a lot about Synapse in 2006, after those archives came out--most of what I wrote is here.

Great write-up, and thanks for bringing this to my attention. I may be spending some time with these.

the noise board thread on Synapse had some good discussion and an amazing post from John Moore, co-collaborator on the insane looking Coupland Synthesizer

always been curious about Cynthia Webster, publisher founder of Synapse: http://www.cyndustries.com/info_1.cfm

someone should interview her maybe

Milton Parker, Tuesday, 24 May 2011 18:17 (fourteen years ago)

holy cow, that Moore post on the other thread is awesome!

Here's an interview with her at Synthtopia: http://www.synthtopia.com/interviews/CynthiaWebster.html

and here is another electronic music fanzine from the '80s, called 'Audion':

Audion is legendary and still going: http://home.btconnect.com/ultimathule/audion.html - I remember picking up an issue at Tower and one of the reviews of a cassette release started with the sentence 'Comparable to the quintessential Morphogenesis album xx' and I just bought the issue right there

you even posted to the thread years ago when I made a bad Audion joke: pfork reassess yes

Syntorama never heard of!

Milton Parker, Thursday, 9 June 2011 22:57 (fourteen years ago)

Ah yes, I was going to say that the only place I'd ever seen Audion was at Ultima Thule. So sad the shop's gone pretty much private now, though.

i was never hip to Audion, but Syntorama is amazing! i can't read spanish, but that's kind of good--it makes the writing seem more mysterious somehow. I have a bunch of issues from the '80s...such a great design sense. those covers! it impresses me that people were making cut-and-paste fanzines about tangerine dream in the '80s. i mean this zine looks totally DIY, really punk rock

milton i just looked at that old thread you linked...ha ha, 'tormato'! that must have been around the time i went shopping for records with dave q in london, on berwick street. every time i found a copy of 'tormato' i would pick it up and bring it to him, just to tease him. that album cover is the worst--wait no, this is the worst: http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/58076353-oscar-concert
