two weeks pass...
Shoenberg's Fundamentals of Musical Composition.

The Inner Game, something tells me it was written by Barry Guy, it was def. a Bass player, might not be Guy though.

Mmm, Cage's books and I love Ben Watson's book on Derek Bailey, that sort of stuff can reallt blow your mind.

Katz's book on Mastering is the bible.

I have about a million of these at home, theres a fantastic one on modern composition that guides you through pretty much all modern styles with some nice examples. Can't remember the author or the title.

Err. its yellow and blue. With a stave on it somewhere.

I've always found for learning about composition, in depth interviews with composers are the most revealing things. Personally I find them hugely inspiring at the same time.

Jordon, I remember reading that Bailey was once going to release a compilation of the notes he made on new discoveries on the guitar.

Anyone know anything about this? Unlikely I suppose.

Although, I would love it if all his notes simply read...

'place fingers on fretboard. randomly'

Confounded (Confounded), Thursday, 13 April 2006 13:36 (nineteen years ago)

Can't see that pic.

I've been reading the Mixing Engineer's Handbook and it's pretty good. Probably worth it for the charts of different instruments + common EQ points alone.

one month passes...
Search: Black Monk Time
Search: Max Weinberg's book of drummer interviews, The Big Beat

I've heard good things about the Hal Blaine and Earl Palmer books, but I haven't read either.
