Aside from that, it does look really intuitive and I can't wait to try one.

Cute-looking little thing, anyway. I like the style of it. I'm sure it'll be great.

Was there anything related to Waldorf at the Messe?

Also, as I am every year, I am again amazed at the sheer variety and quantity of high-end stuff available for ACCORDIANISTS. I get squeeze-box envy every time.

I ran it through bablefish, but the results were not very readable, though I laughed at "Waldorf" being rather over-literally translated as "whale village"! Ha! Any chance of skimming the announcement and giving me the bare bones of what it says in english, Colin?

Currently watching the messe '06 videos at sonicstate, incl a demo of the new moog, which is, uh, OK. I looked at some of the NAMM '06 clips there as well. WTF @ the korg radias demo clip, which screams "here is an instrument which will allow you to make cheeze trance AND NOTHING ELSE", even though uit's probably great really. Also the m3t4son1x vacuum tube synth demo, where when the inventor isn't being drowned out by the metal shredder a couple of booths along, the whole thing is like wtf wtf wtf wtf wtf.

^^ first actually playable iPad softsynth, $1 for a limited time before it goes to $30
the whole touch interface really changes the way you play it in many ways, because the GUI literally is the controller. I'm used to softsynths giving you control over the scale before, but not a synth where the keys you don't want to hit literally vanish off of the keyboard.
and while the GUI definitely fulfills the function of total eye candy, it's also completely utilitarian -- as each note you hold zips around the screen, it's showing you both the way it's mapped to timbre & its position in the overtone series
