Has anybody here ever done anything like this with MIDI triggers?

I stumbled across this site that has shown how to make your own little analog triggers for MIDI using piezo transducers. I kinda had the idea of doing a piece where the musician would jump on a trampoline to trigger sounds from a laptop and was wondering if something like this would work.
