like using a CRATE GUITAR amp is not ok right? do i go get a roland keyboard amp?

Get two rolands for STEREO. I don't know about line levels you are working with, but I would think a Crate guitar amp would add IDM-unfriendly distortion.

My gf has two stereo linked KC-550s and they are awesome and LOUD. Seeing her rig and after the hassles of my Alesis, I'm pretty sure Roland is the only laptop/keyboard amp correct choice... unless I'm wrong.

A bass amp would work too, and probably cheaper and easier to find used than a keyboard amp (try to get one w/a horn in it though...)

Actually, fuck it, the guitar amp might be more fun, unless you are engaging in speaker destroying levels of low end...

i don't know about the larger rolands but i used to use a kc-60 and stopped because of the lack of low end and really piercing high end. i just got a solid state peavey bass amp instead and it sounds much better. i can turn up without making people hold their ears in pain. but i guess it really depends on what range of frequencies you need.
