What would you say it is? Deffo not the Dano pedal, though it is pretty. I think I am gonna get the Boss one.

i have the sabine one, and little experience with others, but it's not terribly great. i think the korg is supposed to be quite good.

i like the boss tu-2, though regrettably it's not true bypass so it sucks a smidge off yr high end. fuck it though, it's affordable and works just fine.

ZR (teenagequiet), Monday, 10 April 2006 14:15 (nineteen years ago)

I don't think Roxy gives two shits if a smidge gets sucked off of the high end of her sound.

Get the TU-2. It can take a beating so when you stomp all punk rock with your bare feet you've no worries of smashing it into tiny bits. Also, it's really easy to read onstage and does that cool trick where it can power your other pedals with a little daisy chain if you like.

Uh, yeah. Not real concerned about high end in general. Is the Boss really affordable compared to other pedal tuners?

more big ups to the tu-2

Well, I don't know what they go for new... $100 maybe? Get one on ebay...

Thing is, the boss probably costs more than some of the others, but it's the most usable (really easy to see/read on stage, which the danos are absolutely not) and it will last more or less forever (which my akai pedal tuner absolutely did not).

Buffers in boss pedals are fine, the high end the tu-2 takes away is hardly noticeable in a band situation. You'd sound much worse out of tune then you would with it in your signal chain. Polvo/the Fall/etc excluded, of course.

The bypass function for tuning in silence is another cool thing about the TU2. It might not be true bypass, but I can't really tell any difference either way. The TU2 also tracks really well for down tuning and with a bass, which is something many pedal tuners do not handle all that great. The Boss probably costs 20-40 bucks more than other comparible pedal tuners, but it is well worth the extra cash. The TU2 will also run for a LONG time on a 9 volt, provided you unplug your cables when you are done.

That Peterson pedal tuner is probably more accurate, but I bet it is not as easy to read on a dark stage.

I'd put the Boss tuner easily on the list of the best musical gear that I have bought. It has been a very good thing to have.

Or this talented newcomer? Sweep and strobe modes, 80 bucks retail.

No love. It ain't like fuzz pedals where having more than one is worth it.

Fuzz is the drug.

another vote for the boss tu-2. i've beat mine up pretty good and it still works great. the daisy-chain powering of other boss pedals is a nice bonus too - kudos to blake from ril0 kil3y for pointing it out to me! had the thing for over a year and i had no idea.

Getting a tu-2 TOmorrow! Tx for input, my hoves.

Peterson's for real -- the rest are kinda toys. I have a Wittmann tuner built in to two of my basses.

Bomb Scare On Bus Caused By Music Instrument Tuner
Posted: 11:23 am EDT July 21, 2010

Gwinnett County police say a thorough inspection of a suspicious package found on a transit bus reveals that the device is an electronic tuner for a musical instrument.

Discovery of the device, described as a black plastic-encased box with wires hanging off it with a small battery attached, prompted the bus driver to evacuate passengers and call police Monday afternoon.

The department's Explosive Ordinance Device Unit used a robot to remove the device from the bus.

The incident shut down traffic on part of busy Satellite Boulevard.

Ritter says the tuner probably was left behind accidentally by its owner, who will be allowed to reclaim it.

Probably not worth the cost or alteration to your guitar though if all you want is the tuning part.

three years pass...

I need a tuner pedal that'll work well on bass and guitar and for gigs and preferably will let me detune/retune whilst playing as well as when not playing. Is the Boss still the best??
