Life as a part-time chorister is GOOD. Although one of my costumes involves a mesh shirt.

what's a choirster dan? (sorry i'm not too up on my opera stuff)...what do your duties entail?

chorister = member of the chorus

In operas, the chorus usually ends up being mobile props who enhance/narrate a scene for the audience. This particular opera is interesting because most of the choruses are 3-part men's chorus numbers; half the time we're a roving band of thugs looking to jack up the hero (ie, the lead tenor) so you could think of us like an operatic version of The Sharks only with all of The Jets' music. In Italian.

awesome!

btw....we just took my Mom to see West Side Story at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater for her b-day! that place is GI-NORMOUS!!! you ever go there as a lad?

Oh yeah! I saw "My Fair Lady" there on a trip that is probably the worst school-related incident in my life (long story short: three of the guys on the bus ride home decided to amuse themselves by spitting on me, I retaliated, and we all got detention even though I sat there for a good long while telling them to knock it off before I retaliated).

woah! that suck! the vers. of west side story was pretty good i thought...i didn't know what to expect, but they did a nice job. mom liked it.

too bad your experience got ruined...I was only traumatized by paying a zillion dollars for a mediocre steak and potatoes dinner! (w/artichoke dip and lots of bread!)

Okay, so opening night was really great aside from a couple of ensemble bobbles right up to the last eight measures of the piece where the ensemble ended up somehow getting a full measure ahead of the orchestra. I am fearful of the reviews.

The principals KILLED it, though! SO SO SO SO SO SO FUCKING GOOD.

Mazel tov.

Do reviewers even notice that sort of thing, though?

Casuistry (Chris P), Sunday, 30 April 2006 01:08 (nineteen years ago)

Classical reviewers live for that sort of thing! It's their analogue for the orgasm that generates cotton candy and rainbows.
