producing (non-live) radio on a mac

i'm looking for software suggestions for how i might put together a radio show on a mac--i don't neccessarily need to record, i'm just looking for a good audio editing interface. something a little more sophisticated than garageband, but i don't need to go super-pro either. ideally something simple enough to work on with the ability to go a little deeper if neccessary, like final cut.

any ideas? ableton? something else?

thanks!

also to be a bit more precise, i need to layer a few audio tracks, ie voice, music, ambience etc

The simplest tool for doing this = Acid.

thanks nabisco!

oh, i forgot to mention (haha this may change everything) our producer is putting together a cut of the show in adobe audition, on a pc. is there any way for us to swap files back and forth between applications if he's using audition and we're using... something else?

and i don't mean straight audio files, but rather more complex project files with multiple tracks.

Good question. AFAIK, there is no generic standard multitrack audio format. BWF looks like it might be it, but I'd have no clue how well it works (you might just get the audio, though the levels might be different, and your automation might disappear) or which DAWs support it. Many programs let you open other programs' propritary file formats, so you might try to find one that's supported by both. It's kind of like with word processing, everybody tends to save as .doc, even if they're not using Word itself.
