bass through a bass preamp

I've got one of these, and I'm pretty happy with it, although it seems that the company's entire product line has been discontinued since the main guy retired.

I've had good luck with a Tech 21 Bass Sansamp. It is the only item I use to record bass just running it direct into a tube compressor. It works for me.
